It's nice to see that it's not just me who appreciates that Heskey is an excellent player. People are too blinded by popular opinion, and popular opinion is often blinded by tabloids, and loudmouth twats in pubs.

England certainly wouldn't have wooped Germany if Heskey hadn't been in the side.

Anyway, this is about Crouch being crap, not Heskey being good.

I was going to vote the 'lucky to have escaped the Championship' option, but looking at who he's playing for, I'm not sure he's been so lucky.

So he's just crap.

I'm not yet convinced that Crouch is England material, but he is more skillful then he is being given credit for. He's weakest in the air probably, because he hasn't got the upper body strength. There were a couple of headers he could have gone for on saturday if her were beefier.

I don't think Defoe is England class but he's without doubt a great player

Crouch on current form should not be in the squad. And I agree with the post about Rooney, if he's injured in 2006, England will not get out of the group stage (which incidentally if FIFA show some fairness, they could seed on qualifying positions and not previous performances could be very tough)

I always rated Heskey very highly when he was at Leicester. Thought he would be a certainty for the England team for years. He has never really lived up to that since, which is a shame. Whether that's because of Houllier is another matter...

I'm not convinced in fact I’m pissed to see we are resorting to the sort of hoof-it football we see across the park with that other big dorky wanker Big Drunk. I'll hold judgement until the rest of the squad realise that it might be worth giving him the ball at is feet from time to time instead of reverting back to the Heskey formation  At least Emile had a bit of weight to throw around but to be honest he goes in the category of Frank Brunoesque athletes in my book. Big lighthouse but the bulbs not shining enough.

To me it smells of a bit of indecisiveness on Raffa's part on how he intends to mould the team. I thought we were heading towards a fast paced forwardly aggressive team until he brought the lob factor back into the squad. With the passing quality we have in our midfield we should be playing on the deck to forwards with pace and agility not lobbing the ball from inside our own half.

We’ll see I suppose but at least it’s not our only option for now.

shoulda seen him at Leicester, first season at Liverpool, and now for Birmingham.. light is very much on.

England's second goal yesterday - Crouch gets the ball in the left back position, cooly holds on to it (remember what I said earlier in the thread)...dribbles past one and makes a peach of a pass to another England player - England break - Crouch makes a run straight to Poland's penalty box.

The ball goes to Owen - pass to Lampard - Goal!

Crouch started it.

Sorry. said:
yup, he's a genius. Well worth subbing SWP for...

how can you say that? shaun wright phillips outshines crouch in every area!!
IMO SWP was one of the best players on the pitch last night

whatever your view on peter, it was bang out of order that he got boo-ed when he came on yesterday.

maybe the "fans" were simply boo-ing the fact that swp was going off, but it does not sit well with me

boo-ing is shite

it has endeared me to crouch

i will now refer to him as "not great" rather than shite

fair play , boo-ing is shite i agree especially if its from his own fans , wheres the loyalty? yeah he may not be the best but at least he's on the pitch compared to the pissed up twats on the stands who's only bit of exercise is lifting up thier pint ( yes im one of them but i dont boo my own team )

SWP - the new Tony Daley

what the fuck do you know, you only like Crouch because your overrated manager spunked £6m on him. You'd be groaning/laughing like the rest of us if he were still at So'ton

Looked on google - but no - couldn't see one of his Shalamar efforts on there!

I'll think you find he played a simple pass to rooney on the edge of our ownbox, then rooney who played a magnificent ball to owen. It could have been me or you who played the ball to rooney. With that sort of pass rooney made it will split any defence in two.

Crouch, as people have said isn't woeful, but he is not international class. If you want a guy to hoof the ball to then Heskey is your option. Why anyone is thinking of hoofing the ball with the squad of palyers we have got is beyond me. Actually I think with Beckham hoofing upfront all game I can see why.
