Pete in drugs overdose :(

I think it has a lot more to do with the rather juvenile "look at me look at me I’m a rock star and I do drugs" impression one gets of Mr Doherty (true or not) than any disapproval of drug taking in general. He just seems like a bit of a sad twat to me.

Still, criticism of one's idols is never easy to take.

You know any time I do my Pete threads I come to realise more and more how much Urban 75 has changed - with the kind of posters it attracts.

when i started posting here in 2001 the calibre of people were very different to the snidey, sneery jeery closet conservatives we have on here these days. I mean, if people dislike Pete's music fair enuff, but the virtriol on these boards towards someone like Pete because of the drugs smacks of the type of wankers youd get on the Daily Mail forum.

welll, yeah, but........he's such an annoying tit

I'm having tea with 'Dave' Cameron and the ghost of Enoch Powell later. Feel to join us.

nope. its partly the music but much more a problem todays Urbanite has with his drug-taking.

I hope that neither Pete nor Amy die from a drugs overdose, beause then they'll become martyrs for the NME kids. I'd rather they gradually fade into obscurity after people eventually come to the realisation that neither of them have much to offer other than sensatonalism and let down.

say what ya want about pete but seriously how could someone wish someone has blatantly talented as Amy Winehouse produce no more music and 'fade away into obscurity???'

its this kind of shocking stuff that im talking about!

To be fair to Cheesy I saw Babyshambles at Essex Uni a few years ago, and despite being an hour and a half late, and the second guitarist walking off three songs in, they were pretty fucking good. Doesn't compensate for the fact that Pete is a complete tool and hasn't managed to write a good song since The Libertines though.

I find it hard to believe that people often don't like a band as blatantly talented as Abba but it seems that some people really don't like them ;)

I have long been baffled with the media obsession with Doherty ever since I saw The Libertines play at Reading and was struck with nothing other than how ordinary and undistinctive they were and how forgettable the music was. There are plenty of other smack and crack-heads who might die at any time, so why focus on him and Winehouse?

I don't wish death on anyone but I really do think he's famous for his drug habit rather than his music. I'd be surprised if more than 1% of the people who had heard of him had heard any of the music.

I'd rather todays rock stars showed some sort of respect for their fans by showing up for gigs.

The voice of near-reason.

...let's hope no-body has to get hurt/OD whatever before they wise-up.

And the music is very ordinary...but then....what do I know (re Ian Dury).
