has it not occurred to you, cheesy, that stating your opinions as facts ad nauseam - and telling people that they're actually wrong - is not only a little dumb but also a bit fucking arrogant?

I mean, I bang the drum for things I like but there's limits. (for example your comments to Paulie above)

Pete Doherty is the lowest point the NME has ever reached in my memory.
Down there with Menswear imo.

You're right about Mark Lanegan. The Screaming Trees released cracking album after cracking album but I don't remember any significant mentions in the NME or other rags at the time.

mick jones produced the first libertines albums because a talent like him, spotted how good pete and carl were - that simple

Is Mick Jones still talking to Doherty after that horrendous Babyshambles cover of White Riot? That was genuinely one of the shittest things I've heard in my entire life, an orchestra composed of a gang of three-year-olds banging pots and pans together and a pack of howling laboratory beagles could have covered the song much better.

Did he not also produce the first couple of Theatre of Hate records...? Now, Kirk Brandon. There was a tosser.

i'll PM you but start with Up the Bracket by the Libertines,

mindblowing.

it'll shock you, absolutely stun you. change ur life. its epic.

Epic is a bit of an exaggeration! It's a decent tune, but not epic.

epic definition:

adj.

1. Of, constituting, having to do with, or suggestive of a literary epic: an epic poem.
2. Surpassing the usual or ordinary, particularly in scope or size: “A vast musical panorama . . . it requires an epic musical understanding to do it justice” (Tim Page).
3. Heroic and impressive in quality: “Here in the courtroom . . . there was more of that epic atmosphere, the extra amperage of a special moment” (Scott Turow).

i know the meaning of the word, and i chose it carefully.

with all due respect - can you curb your pontifications - and the link you provide is totally irrelevant to this thread. You didnt even back up your point either.

here's my reminder Odds:

DISCLAIMER: please dont vote/ comment on this unless you are actually familar with peters music, so any comments on his personal idiocy on this thread are redundant and for another time

Has it occured to you, by the way that loads of celebrated poets were completely pretentious - Oscar Wilde and Lord Byron, being prime examples.

lots of complete druggies too - jus cos someone does drugs doesnt mean they arent creative

i said in my disclaimer to isolate the musician from the caricature - that, clearly you are unable to do.

just goes to show how the media influences people

The media dosnt influence me Cheesy.

The man physically makes me feel sick and I don't enjoy his music.

You asked the question , I can't help it if you don't like my answer.

rubbish answer, and i am not referring to your opinion on it either

 Back at ya

dont be ridiculous

why dont you admit that you just jumped ahead hook, line and sinker into the media image pete? cos thats exactly what you did

This is precisely what I suspected people would do, because they are being fed an image by the media which they have swallowed. That is the reason i specifically said to judge only on the music NOT the image -the tabloid one is for another thread.

If you had posted one of petes videos of his music, explained to me why you dont like his music (assuming you have actually heard more than one time), and had anything at all to say on my references to scholars who have been pretentious and/or druggies - maybe then i could respect your post.

but you cant do that can you, because you sound exactly like a cardboard cutout from the public.

i'd advise you to run on this one odds, you have already made a show of yourself :p
