Pete Doherty On Channel 4 News

Don't you think that's a bit simplistic though? I bet he likes Heroin too, but he doesn't seem very happy to me.

Perhaps but I knew a lot of junkies who didn't wanna get off it

Surely all smackheads like taking heroin? All of the smackheads I know love it to the detriment of everything else.

That's not how he comes across though is it? :)

It was

Can you explain how that was funny ?

Well, I saw it as a spot on CH4 news, one moment it was the CH4 shiny gleaming studio, the next I was transported to some scummy room in Camden, the extreme transformation made me laugh, and then I thought the interviewer was asking such dumb questions, to which I thought PD answered quite well, when you could actually hear him that is.

I certainely did not mean to suggest that it was a laugh watching A drug Addict, no more than it was to watch Shane Magowen, whom I have the most love and respect for.

Still, at the end of the day, there was more I could relate to in that Scuzzy Room, than there was in the CH4 studio.

I felt really sorry for esp when he was talking bout his feelings for Kate Moss, bless his cottons... i know people say he's a wanker an that but he's still a human being...

why not?

Some addicts do actually enjoy getting off their heads you know?

Especially when like PD they have a huge disposable income.

He may not like clucking but I bet he likes Heroin a lot.

Very very true, addicts might be unwilling victims of prohibition, but are willing victims of the addcition that is a side affect to really really great experiences to be had on herion (and crack).

Anyway, this Doherty bloke. What's he done?

Not much. A few good songs, but for most people – thanks to endless coverage in the mainstream media – he's more famous for dating Kate Moss and being an addict than his musical talents.

He hasn't done as much as, say, Morrissey during his 80s peak. Morrissey can be considered a lyrical genius. Doherty can't be a real genius until he's made some more records and bothered to turn up to some of his own gigs once in a while. Perhaps when he gets bored of his publicity trip and makes some amazing albums he might be worthy of some attention. For now, he's just Heat magazine fodder. (And, depressingly, The Guardian and C4 News celeb fodder too.)

i think all the media exposure PD's drug problem is getting is good for everyone. it's not exactly a run of the mill situation (he's not an unemployed heroin addict from Stockton), but it's still interesting that people can see the truth behind what it's like to have a drug problem, ie not very exciting, rather than the usual media crap

But Doherty does make drug addiction look really exciting – you get your arse squeezed by one of the most beautiful women in the world once you walk off the main stage at Glastonbury, you get adoring fans following you everywhere and supporting you in court, you're always in the news, you're considered a male fashion icon, your records sell well...

... compare that with Mr Anonymous Skag Head from Stockton. I don't know anything about him, but I bet his life is a lot less glamorous.
