I'll take the bait knowingly and state that you really don't know what you are talking about. Go and look at your cd/record collection and consider that this isn't about knowing details of the artists in question - instead (at least as far as Winehouse is concerned) it is about context.

and regarding the media circus, they willfully and actively courted and cultivated it so it's their own silly faults if it's all become a bit of a frankenstein for them.

I was just listening to Camille before and that reminds me why I don't think much of Amy Winehouse. I don't understand why people think she is some sort of genius for writing derivative songs and sounding black, she would be a great popstar if she wasn't a complete mess, but she isn't exactly a great talent

Yeah all those and Sara Blasko and Feist and Cat Power and about a dozen others are better than Winehouse, but she pisses righteously all over P-Doh.
