i am a Nirvana fanatic more than a Libertines one, and the libertines only did two albums, and it takes more to convince most people. I think that given more time, they would have the same kind of legacy as Nirvana, yes, because they were that good.

Unfortunately people (and a frightening amount on a supposedly liberal board like this) have astonishingly conservative views on the libertines story anyway, because of petes antics, and they just believe all they read in the paper, ignoring the only thing that matters: the music.

I reckon Kurt would shoot himself again if he was likened to a person who has made a career from the media.

personally i don't think the libertinbes have anything near the qualifications to be called exceptional..l. simply because i just don't know them...

i am not the biggist music person but for all the other bands mentioned on this thread i actully have a passing knowledge of them and their music simply because at one time or another i heard their songs and they actully made me listen and want to find out more.

either the libertines just never got played or they simply failed to register on my radar... either way ... thats not a band that can be considered the greatest
