pete asks old libertine bandmate carl to be best man

You're just a mouthpiece for Doherty, really. I hope they're paying you well because I wouldn't do it for gratis.

I'm not sure what you are saying here

What "bait"? Where is the requirement that I have to like Doherty and his projects? There is no requirement. It's a good thing you aren't running the country and with your authoritarian views on popular culture you'd make Uncle Joe Stalin blush with embarrassment.

I've heard Babyshambles and I think they're overrated. Sorry if you don't like that but that is my right.

nah you've thought about it now, you spouted loads of mega conservative drivel earlier like you'd been spoonfed the daily mail all your life - that was your immediate reaction and for that, you dont get forgiven :p :D

Yer man Doherty and his musical and poetic endeavours will be a footnote in musical history, probably on the same page that mentions how arse Oasis and Blur actually were.

Oi! Faaahhk offf!

Blur are 100x better than the Libertines, and about 10x better than Oasis.

Definitely not arse

I don't need to think about it at all and you're talking out of your arse. Quelle surprise. If I don't like Doherty, The Libertines or Babyshambles, that's my choice. Do you like every genre of music? I'll bet you don't and I'll bet you're no fan of Take That either...dunno, maybe you are.

I don't read the Daily Mail but it is pretty obvious that you do nothing else but propagandise on behalf of Doherty.

You avoided my question about which industry you worked in. I wonder why? It's pretty obvious that you work in the music industry.

Your argument is flimsy.

Blur were awful mockney tosspots.

Apart from the fact that they weren't actually 'mockney' - do some research - that's a pretty lazy assessment even by your standards, tarannau :p

You'll note that in my statement I mentioned that Blur and Oasis get a place on the page, while the Libertines get a footnote? :)

As for how "good" either of them were/are, to me they're both "good" in their historical context (although better contemporaries of both were ignored by the music media), but not in the same league as the bands either of them were derivative of.

Mind you, at least Blur had the decency to attempt to transcend their influences. Oasis still haven't managed that.

Sorry mate, but the "arse" judgement stands.

Mr. Albarn did oscillate wildly between a middle class "home counties" accent and an working class estuarine Essex drawl, depending on his audience.

Not "mockney" as such, but arse all the same.

What, I need to do an assessment before I call someone a tosspot? In triplicate and on carbon paper? Life's just not fair.

I had the misfortune of meeting Albarn a couple of times, even worked his suite bar after a certain awards ceremony. My opinion of him, Blur's music and his affected 'cor blimey, I've blinking swallowed Dick Van Dyke' accent stands..

:p

which probably reflects his background - partly brought up in London, partly in the Home counties, etc etc.

is his accent really an issue? how about judging a guy by his output? :p

Now Take That are what you call an influential band, think of all the Boy Bands that came after them ;)

How is it more valid to judge someone on the amount of bodily waste they pass, than on their affectations? :p

off-topic not that any cares i'm sure. But do you know the story behind that picture. It's obviously another Bush gaff. Who's the other chap etc?
Spooky, was thinking the same thing myself.

One swift google of "bush gaffe japan/korea/china" hit paydirt. It's Bush and President Hu of China, who seems rather alarmed at being grabbed by the chimp.
