pete and carl meet up!

I just don't care enough, to be honest.

Let's face it, if the highly overrated Libertwats did reform it would last 2 weeks before smackface Docherty ruined it for everyone else...

don't disagree with any of that

i don't even think that's fair, to be honest. they were probably genuinely there for a gig or something and some twat photographer / journo has made a meal of it

innit, it's not like the dublin castle isn't a regular haunt of the press types.

The Libertines were everything I want in a band and their music means the world to me. We can only hope for a reunion, I believe some day it will happen.

the only reunion they'll be having is at Doherty's funeral. and he clearly will be dead.

then we can all forget about him in the time it takes me to eat my chips the next day.

the man is a tool, the music is average at best.

i tried for a bit, liked one song. All that's happened since is that rather than just figuring 'they're not for me' and ignoring them, the disproportionate, hysterical fawning of the likes of cheesypoof has absolutely guaranteed my utter hatred for them

so because one person likes a band you dont like it? nice one mate. good job.
i think its actually cooler to dislike the libertines now. Although i can see how that happens though, it is anoying how people go on and on about stuff if your just not into it.
Seriously though, i think they are like marmite you either love it or hate it. You either get it or you dont.
I personally got it and it was fucking great.

p.s can someone please explain what 'sixth form poetry' actually is?? Isnt poetry subjective? it just seems like a term made up by music journalists who wish they were playing music rather than writing about it.

Yeah it's shit like this: "I've been running round this world too much, girl, pretending not to see what's drilling me, it's killing me"

No imagery, poignance, wordplay, metaphors, wit or anything else that distinguishes even medicore poetry from drivel like doherty's nonsense.

i beg to differ - it's painfully self-conscious imagery etc. poetry that thinks it's clever. poetry that tries too hard.

it has an affinity with raw emotions - but states thm in such cliched terms that their professed profundity is clearly as shallow as a teaspoon.

it also often makes stylstic / content references to tortured poetry poster-boys/girls such as coleridge, byron, keats, elliot, plath etbleedingcetera.

eta - hence the moniker "6th form" - first exposure to these poets, first exposure to lurve and depression / mind expansion

is that what i said? no, it's not. tit.

yep, and we're all dead cool here. Everything I own or like is shaped by notions of cool.

all i care about is music, and i cant help it that i love them

and i wont fucking apologise for it :p

Instead, i'll celebrate!:D :D

its one thing likeing a bands music.

its quite another obsessing other them to the nth degree.

thats what it came across as. you said that because someone was obsessive or 'fawned' as i think you put it over the band that it made you hate them even more.

tit.

That's all spot on actually.

I'm just listening to some Leatherface at the moment. Now there's poetry. Way too ugly to have supermodel girlfriends though.

oh grow up for fucks sake. one day you will feel so embarassed for your obsession with these talentless, rich-kid wankers and their shitty music.

there's a whole world of wonderful music out there. go out and discover it.

actually, one of Frankie's girlfriends was quite attractive. ;)

But yeh, Frankie Stubbs was a proper fucking poet. None of this Albion crap for him

There's a little bit of springtime in the back of my mind,
That remembers when there was a time
when we danced and laughed an spent some time drinking wine,

and somewhere in there,
There's a little child
without a thought,
without a doubt
that every cloud is silver lined.

He is warm
and everything is new,
and everything is clean
and everything is free
and there were still so many things to see.
So many things still left to be.

You're a very small drop in the middle of a big sea
of high and mighty things.
Your fascination for larger than life,
Your brand new appetite,
as though we'd invented it.
We danced.

There's a little bit of springtime in the back of my mind,
That remembers things,
perhaps as they should've been,
rather than lies,
rather than the cruelty,
That sometimes we were guilty of

and as everyone knows,
We were only young and really couldn't have known.
We were very young
and it's nice to know
there's a place to go
and still so many things left to see.

You're a drop in the middle of a big sea
of high and mighty things.
Your fascination for larger than life,
Your brand new appetite.
As though we'd invented it.
We danced.
It could be the longest time and I'll remember it.
You don't know what's in store, when we laugh.

So pete, gonna tell all your followers how youv'e ripped William Blake off with your Albion Mumblings?
Why do you follow the tedious rock n roll line with the Smack, I cant think of anything more un-rebel like than becoming a smack monster, I expect you go boozing with the Gallaghers and that stumpy little self rightious cunt Bono

Pete Doherty said:
I'm glad I have such a profound effect on people...

you really DO care man... aaw

Ere ya go Pete a 1000ml bottle of methodone, now you have a swig of that and get your head down youv'e got another cancelled show to fulfill tomorrow:D

Typical. Just as this was about to turn into a Leatherface thread, a Doherty impersonator turns up and distracts everyone's attention.
