I think that pic was taken straight after the milesy belt undone pic, so I think you had every right to look a little concerned :D

Really? I was about to say that I've never been to PRoD sober but that isn't true. I'm just shockingly unobservant it seems :o

They are not as noticeable as all that, though, because it's not usually terribly bright - they are on the wall to the right as you are entering the dancing bit. I have only noticed them because I seem to spend most of my time there sitting down watching!

let's be clear about this, before someone attacks me again. I have cupped a total of one breast at PRoD, at the request of the young lady concerned, and carried out, I might add, with a high degree of professionalism.

and I never claimed to be able to tell the age of someone by doing so, that's a ridiculous notion; I merely use the breast-cupping to diagnose and treat minor medical ailments.

*cough*

I would like to point out that the first time you did it, it was an accidental, and you were mortified about it.

So I let you do it again to make you feel better :D (it was my birthday)

Did you have to pay custom charges for yours? I had to pay 12.24 for mine. I was well hacked off!

Rightly so - was there any explanation forthcoming about this.
Are the charges to the customs and excise or the post office?
did they say what they are for?

Think it's random import tax from stuff coming from the US. I've ordered a few things from Cafepress shops before and some have had tax added and some haven't

Luck of the draw I think.

It says that the charges are both customs and post office handling charges. I asked the chap in the sorting office, and he admitted that it was random. When I asked if there was anything that could have been done to avoid it, he reckoned not, but my daughter pointed out that you don't have to pay this if it is a gift. It was because it was commercial.

I am seriously not impressed. That makes a couple of cheaply printed tshirts very expensive! :(

thinking of a new tag line...

mean time I'm annoyed about this customs lark
according to cafepress FAQ

You may be subject to import duties and taxes, which are levied once the package reaches your country. Additional charges for customs clearance must be borne by you; we have no control over these charges and cannot predict what they may be.

Customs policies vary widely from country to country; you should contact your local customs office for further information. Additionally, when ordering from CafePress.com, you are considered the importer of record and must comply with all laws and regulations of the country in which you are receiving the goods.

Customs forms for all international packages list the value of your order's contents by product type. For instance, orders containing T-Shirts, Mugs, and Mousepads will be listed in a way similar to the following example:

T-Shirt value: $15.99
Mug value: $ 10.99
Mousepad value: $10.99

which sort of means we're stuck with it, on a random basis.
which is shit basically.

Maybe I should have read the smallprint, but I certainly will not be recommending anyone else to buy from them.

It's not them though is it?
it's customs and apparently it's random, which makes it even more infuriating.
there's no mention I can find of it on the Royal Mail or Revenue websites.
Is this one of them 'stealth' taxes

I ordered on the first day, and i'm still waiting for my stuff.:(

<pouts>

I'm running out of "feasibly delayed in the postal strike" time...

I ordered on the first day, and mine arrived yesterday. But at the sorting office. As above :)

Currently, I am wearing the black one. Two urbanites came round earlier, too, and neither noticed!

Don't look good for you then Spangles....

I got hit with this as well and only got my stuff today although I ordered before anyone else.
Quite pleased with me mug tho'

the trick would appear to be order one item or loads in one go.....

goods over the value of £18 imported into the EU are liable to VAT,
over £36 if it's a gift,

VAT isn't too bad but there's an £8 Royal Mail charge which would be unavoidable in these situations. The randomness would be just that some stuff gets through unnoticed I suppose..............
So a big order would spread that charge but it'd be better just to order one thing and get in under the £18.
Fiery jack has managed this 'cos he bought the 'alcohol' shirt. This is the bargain T-shirt at cost and I just assumed that would mean worst quality, I've not checked with him yet how it is.
As that's a design with limited appeal (i.e. him) if the shirts are pretty good then maybe we'll move one of the other designs onto it so people can get 'em cheaper - it's only in white though, and no backprint. we'll see.
I'll have to review the pricier items too if people are gonna have to pay an extra £12 just to pick them up we'll have to junk them.
