People who should be taken off the road...

How about drivers doing poor and slow three point turns on busy roads at rush hour in front of secondary schools? She looked at me like I should eat shit, as I cycled around the traffic jam she was causing. I think she would have hit me had it not been for the witnesses.

Always jump red lights on my bike, but never surprise anyone or cause them to deviate from the route they were taking. I also apply the same rules when peds are crossing when the light is red for them and green for me. I love these conversations, it's been about 2 months since the last one!

Buses that jump reds
a) it's really dangerous - happens at oxford circus all the time, and there are tonnes of peds around there all the time, acting en masse.
b) why are you in a hurry?

People in cars resent lots of things*. Like bikes (of all types, I'd guess) being able to filter through traffic, for instance...

Feel free to come out here in the wind and rain and you can do it, too.

*And fuck them, quite frankly! :D

The cars and buses that go through the red light/green man at the ped crossing on the Brixton end of Brixton High Street piss me off.

Taxi drivers who maim you by driving without due care and attention and then get to stay on the roads by changing their legal representation every six months to delay county court proceedings.
I'm not keen on them. :D

Not many of them admittedly, but a few car drivers seem positively offended that I overtake them on my scooter (so I'd imagine bicycles piss them off even more :D) while they're stationary, and afterwards they race pass me if they have the chance- only for me to leave them behind at the next queue of of corse.

Yeah, that's exactly what happens to me, too. Mostly it's just dirty looks, but the odd one seems very upset... Strange that, eh? :D

Drivers that don't understand that most cycle paths useless for just about all cyclists except for perhaps children. When you cycle on the road next to a cycle path they try to teach you a lesson by giving you no space when they overtake, or display other aggressive behaviours.

Audi drivers, I have a thing about Audi drivers. I find myself agreeing with Clarkson that most Audi drivers I know and indeed most times I see an aggressive driving vehicle it is a "Cock" in an Audi.
Incidently my missus got crashed into by a cock in an Audi who proceeded to scream obsenities at her until she cried :(
So I might be biased.
However when she rang me to say "Ive had a crash and the guy won't stop screaming at me!" I said "Audi driver?" and she said yes a "Cock in an A6" :D

Drivers that don't indicate that they're turning right at junctions until they're at the fucking junction and you're stuck behind them.
Cyclists with no/shit lights.
Twats who convert their car to a mobile beat box and you can here the base from 100 yards.
Wanky custom jobs in general.
Cyclists wearing iPods.
Tailgaters.
Pavement cyclists.

I actually have grown to like custom jobs. Esp UV lights at the bottom of the car. Wanky but the put a smile on me.

There are some guys who you occasionally see cruising around Oxford in their custom Robin 3 Wheeler - they have matching stig style outfits and motorbike helmets to go with image. Class!

It would be a good idea to make it legal for cyclists to SLOWLY take a left turn at red if it is safe to do so and giving full priority to people crossing the street (like in New York).
Cars can can turn right on a red light in the US under the same conditions.

It's a very sensible road rule, but I don't know if it would work here. Few car drivers would realise it was legal or be watching out for cyclists in unexpected places, and plenty of cyclists would have piss poor judgement about when it's safe to do it. It's not part of the UK driving skill-set, any more than roundabouts are in the US driving skill-set.

It is a good idea though. Getting cyclists to their destination and off the road quicker should be a priority. Those cycle lanes that run on pavements alongside main roads drive me nuts. It's a main road, but cyclists are being forced to stop and give way at every side street, with cars turning in being less likely to see them (because they're on the pavement, not the road) and and having much more time to hit them (because they've had to stop or slow down before crossing). Much more dangerous for the cyclist than being on the road itself.

people who are so fucking excited at a snarl up on the motorway that they cant wait to get their hazard lights on. fair enough if the person infront of you has smashed into someone and its clearly been close for you, let me know. but you have brake lights to tell me your slowing down because there is some traffic, i also have eyes with which i use to watch the road ahead of not just me, but you also.

The cunt in the BMW X5 who tailgated me, contantly swerving out to try & pass in a 50kph zone when we were doing 50 already & then as we entered a 30kph school zone, gunned it & over took, disapearing around the next corner (where the school was) at what must have at least 60kph.
Exactly 25 seconds later, I pulled along side him at lights. Fucking twat.

I was very surprised to find out there is no left on red in Australia (at least QLD). I guess for an American it doesn’t seem like a hard manoeuvre, calling it a skill set seems a bit to much.

Now roundabouts- that’s a damned skill set.

I had one similar this morning (except it was a tarted up Ford Focus, lol :D ).

Desperately tried to overtake me as I was going along the bus lane. Couldn't.

Eventually passed me by going through a red light at a major roundabout. Oooops.

Fucking moron. Camera controlled junction, too. :D

It's not about the manoeuvre being difficult, it's about it being misunderstood/misused in a country which isn't used to it being legal. I've seen cars speed up to try and "punish" cyclists for cycling instead of walking across a pedestrian crossing and seen pedestrians push cyclists off their bikes because they didn't know the pavement doubled as a cycle-path. I think the combination of cyclists turning left on red when it's not that safe to do so and the plethora of car-drivers who have problems controlling their egos could be lethal.

This is a ridiculous complaint. People do it to minimise the chances of someone who is paying less attention or who have worse brakes than they have (ie lorries) ploughing into the back of someone. So what if people do it unnecessarily sometimes? If you get that worked up at people just for giving a signal you consider unnecessary, you need to get a better handle on your ego whilst driving. Seriously.

Cyclists aren't a problem usually - I just drive very cautiously around them and give them lots of room.

But motorcyclists who ride in fucking packs on the motorway and have absolutely NO regard for the highway code or other road uses should all die. Now.

Yes, Forest of Dean Saxons:rolleyes:, I mean you, you bunch of ignorant twats.

People who should be taken off the road?

Mothers (or fathers) driving kids to school
Anyone driving for a journey of under two miles

To the cyclist who nearly ran me over on Saturday night : If you're wearing dark clothing, no helmet, no high-viz and cycling fast enough for pedestrians not to see you approach I suspect you will be taken off the road by an ambulance.

Actually some cars have this built in a safety feature. If you have to hit the anchors hard at speed the hazards come on.
Because not everyone is as observant as you are DR

oh and people who are about to turn into a side road and do not give way to pedestrians who are waiting to cross that road. wankers
They don't have to! They do have to give way to pedestrians who are already crossing the road though, and nothing is written about somebody coming down a road to a junction where there are pedestrians, though giving way is always better than running some poor sod down just to prove a point! ;)

Tbh, if there is genuinely is no one else around, peds or bikes or motorised vehicles, and it's very obvious that this is the case to the person needing to turn, then I think someone can be excused for not indicating. But then who would know? It's a bit like that philosophical question about the tree in the uninhabited forest making a sound. ;)
But what about the people that the driver just failed to take notice of? Drivers should indicate all manouvres. The only one i got taught not to bother with was moving back to the left after overtaking on a single carriage way because it's obvious that you have to at the end of the manouvre.
