People that would make a great Dr Who.

But didn't he get busted recently ?
Wouldn't be able to do Blue Peter :D

I thought he got run over by a bus in Bristol made a miraculous recovery and was on a WestEnd stage within days. Presumably showing that he does really have the regenerative powers demanded by the role.

since we're having a specific thread on the subject, I will feel no shame about mentioning the ones I always mention. Yet again.

(once this series is over we need a proper poll to decide once and for all, then we can circulate it round the papers and get rid of the ridiculous notion that James f*****g Nesbitt should do it)

Agreed on two counts

I think the series has become such a cash cow now that we won't be seeing anyone leading who isn't serious totty, either male or female.

It'll also be someone who can appeal to da yoof, so quirky eccentrics, Bill Nighy, or simply good actors like Pete P, are probably out.

Its not that young people couldn't like any of this, but it wouldn't be believed by those who commission TV.

i always pictured donald sutherland as a perfect dr. who, i don't know why...:p

but he's too old now

my first thought too, but he's not too old at all.

I reckon the bloke who plays Gaz on 2 Pints of Lager would be sensational.

Sensational.

eta if it doesn't have to be an actor, Brian Paddick

If we're going American it'd be the greatest actor of his generation (including Depp IMO)

..female (it'll never happen, there will never be a bird Doctor unfortunately)

you know that she

is Debbie from the Archers tho, I hope!

That is not Debbie, for a start she's in Hungary and anyway, she looks nothing like that.....

Any self-respecting listener knows that the Archers are real – there is no cast. When you have been listening day in day out for perhaps as long as 50 years or so, it can be deeply upsetting suddenly to be presented by some ludicrous photograph purporting to be one of Ambridge’s residents.

I remember when I first saw Alan Rickman on TV. He played the odious Obadiah Slope and he was fantastic.....he'd be good in anything.

I think he's one of (if not the) best British actors of the past 30 years.

I can imagine him as a sardonic, aloof Doctor. Hearkening back to the days when the Doctor was more 'other' - a bit more mysterious.

Like the thought of Ian McKellan but my choice/s would be

Older and maybe slightly scary Dr

Camp, funny and excellent actor Dr
