Pendulum / Clownstep

i thought clownstep was all over now
and iirc it was the sillyness and overt noises in tunes like bandwagon blues etc that it was called that.
anyway i got a few tunes from a couple of years ago, distorted minds and one called blandwagon poos with mr hanky on the middle bit. exactly the same as bandwagon blues but a piss take, i ahve been know to double drop them :o sorry sam.

i liked it for a bit but can be very offputing after more than an hour i reckon.

also dub try some of the star sign series from a couple of years ago, some of that is a bit loopy

nerr ner ner nerr nerrr, nerrrr ner ner ner nerrrr, ner *ner* ner *ner*...

shit.

You can't write off the whole of drum n bass cos of bodyrock!

As for Clownstep wikipedia pretty much has it covered! Clownstep

Yeah it's alright for a bit if your pissed, but otherwise pretty poo, there's just too much better dnb around....

edit

blandwagon poos is ok - it was John B's riposte to all the shite clownstep that was emerging at the time (esp twisted's and distorted's output) and caused a fair few barneys at the time IIRC . . .

saaam

i like john b - he doesn't try and stick to the "we're so macho and moody and street" image that a lot of people in the drum and bass scene seem to do.

don't write a whole genre off cos of one tune, no matter how rinsed and annoying that tune is! :D

please recommend me some acid techno. i don't know if i've ever heard any. is that jerome hill "TeknOhmage" mix on the don't recordings website acid techno? i love that. i downloaded all them mixes the other day after you linked to the site on some thread, cheers, been getting a lot of listening pleasure from them. nice bike too :D
thanks.

No thats wonky techno. Jerome hill is its main proponent but not instigator.
Acid techno, confusingly, no longer has a 303 in it - the 'acid' noise. It is noa hard percussive (but ultimately bouncy and clean IMHO) type of techno from london. Chris liberator is its main proponent but there are others with other styles. Its confusingly used as blanket term for most techno played at london parties, which is more often than not - incorrect. A better term that i have been using is London techno.

I got dragged (literally) along to Fabric on friday night by my girlfriend and it was breakbeat kaos in room2 with pendulum and fresh... fucking "clownstep" all night and the same tunes got played sometimes as much as three or four times during the night... I do actually quite enjoy pendulum's tunes, but not on repeat all night
