Pendulum / Clownstep

hate all these reinvented names. Clownstep - which is basically jump up.
another 1 that really gets me is liquid dnb. all this name stuff is bollocks its just called dnb!

Dubversion have a listen to Clipz 'shittery slope' :p

i know what you mean, but even a basic morning's investigating has shown me that clownstep - whilst being a form of jump-up, i guess - is a very distinct and identifiable strand.. names are annoying, but they do help pinpoint things, rather than trying to say 'well it's a bit SKKKRRRONNNNKKK and the beats are a bit BAFFDOOMBAPDDOOMBAP' or whatever

clownstep rules. liquid bores.

maestro brung body rock on saturday but some people saw fit to not bother playing it :(

it's random, you gimp :p

we had 200+ people through the door. in all likelihood that's 400 tunes or so. in 4 hours. whaddya reckon?

sorry misley ur right it is helpful to know.

What really got me the other day was my mates were chatting about some liquid dnb night they went to (which is apparantly all the hype at the mo) and inside they had liquid ladies wtf!

aye, bodyrock = clownstep... because someone notable said "that tune reminds me of clownsstepping" or something along those lines (i think it was dylan but not 100%)

now me? i like the idea of troll-stomp but nobody's invented it yet :D

i know it's random, i was being sarky  :p

it's a conspiracy i tell thee. *sulks*

"body rock"? yeah apparantely os - which is strange cos that's a fairly slow track and quite inovative in the drum and bass scheme of things, whereas most of the clownstep of today doesn't seem to be so.

I like it! So there's early period clownstep and modern clownstep... :p

nah - the people doing the cloakroom on Saturday aren't clever enough to do conspiracies ...

"old skool clown step" would be "plain old jump up"

i bet if "the chopper" came out now it would be classed as clown-step.

not forgetting the clownstep dynasty of 2003.

I have some troll-stomp at home, by some Estonian bloke called DJ Mongo. It rocks, I burnt it to CD for PROD but left it at home. :(

i thought clownstep was a bit shan to be honest

andy c and generation dub did a couple of good tunes in 2002, and every producer fucking ripped it off

body snatchers was the best one

You know what they say about men with large hands and big feet?

They're clowns.

a) I know who you nicked that joke from.

b) Wasn't Clownstep a drunken joke of ours from a few years back?

c) You know what they say about men with big feet?

They wear big shoes. :)

The old gags are the best, eh? (Or rather, it's one of the few I can ever remember.)

You know, I can't remember clownstep, although I remember you texted "Bagpuss hip-hop" to me. (Isn't that how some reviewer described Lemonjelly?) :D

clown step gets boring when it's all your d n b head mates play, ever. and they double drop it all the time.

Give me a nice bit of marcus any day . . .

intalex? done some wicked tunes.... "outerspace" is by fave by him. maybe. i love the sort of atmospheric-but-funky stuff that he does, same with sonic. maybe it's a northern thing.

marcus intalex best tune: Immersed

Clownstep: pretty boring. if fucked/drunk its the best thing ever but i cant listen to it for more than 30 minutes sober, its just so uninnovative.

for the best clownstep, get D&B arena mix compilation by Fabio & Grooverider.

for proper drum & bass, refer to what Ishkur's calls "darkstep", "neurofunk" and "liquid funk".

anyway, Dubversion mate... why revert back to clownstep when you have RAGGA JUNGLE BREAKCORE?

bodyrock

is a terrible tune and one of the ways i explain my hatred of most DnB

nerr ner ner nerr nerrr, nerrrr ner ner ner nerrrr, ner *ner* ner *ner*...

shit.

still dance to it tho. i respect a genre that has its OWN dance. Thats cool.
Acid techno does too mind.

don't write a whole genre off cos of one tune, no matter how rinsed and annoying that tune is! :D

please recommend me some acid techno. i don't know if i've ever heard any. is that jerome hill "TeknOhmage" mix on the don't recordings website acid techno? i love that. i downloaded all them mixes the other day after you linked to the site on some thread, cheers, been getting a lot of listening pleasure from them. nice bike too :D
