No, as in "will suck up a massive amount of RAM and not support 3D, or require a complete restart" - which is considerable pain, in my book.
As mentioned, definitions of "painless" vary...

No, you can. It's just that Parallels doesn't support accelerated 3D, so if you want that, you have to reboot into Windows proper.
I've played a few PC games on my imac booted into Windows, it works just fine. The graphics are some midrange ATI thing, so nothing spectacular.

So, you're not taking me up on the macbook price challenge then
So in fact your claim that macs are 'double' the price of pcs comes down to one whole personal price comparison on one model? Very weak.

For more $$$$, of course.Don't forget you can always install Windows on it if you need to...
Why would I want to increase the cost of buying a laptop by installing two commercial operating systems? Is it free to add OSX to a PC then? cool

I'd cover up that fucking ridiculous glowing Apple logo straight off though.
In fact, why would I need to install another OS at all when the one I've already got does everything I ask of it?
But they're generally not lit up like a fucking Christmas tree and turning the user into an illuminated advert for the manufacturer. You do know that (b) other manufacturers (E.g Dell) have logos in the same place...
Sledgehammer. Meet nut. And where did the OP say they needed to indulge in cross platform testing anyway?Testing, when you want to know it 100 % works on the other o/s browser (and don't trust betas)...

Does safari on windows not match safari on the mac?
A
I've noticed that my current PC sometimes is going to at least 50% CPU usage with various Norton files recently. It's now two years old and has 2Gb of RAM... it's one of those machines which seems to rev up the fan when it's working harder than usual, so I look at the Task Manager to see what's going on. I also seem to have lots of annoying auto-rebooting going on, only when the machine is just switched on. Once it's had about 20 minutes of being switched on, it stops rebooting.
All irrelevant to the OP's question. They didn't, but its good practice, and can help make sure a web-site is future-proof if it complies with standards...
All irrelevant to the OP's question.
You're the one lecturing them about "good practice" and insisting that they simply must install two operating systems on their new machine. If the OP hasn't been scared off already, perhaps they might want to clarify their use of the computer. Instead of being told...?

Instead of telling them what they should do, why not ask what he/she wants their machine for first?

Me said:If you're going to be do web-design, one handy thing to remember is that you can install Firefox 2.x/3.x, Safari + IE all at once. And even have them all running concurrently... Easy IE install : http://www.kberg.ch/ies4osx/

FFS: how much longer are you going to pointlessly bang on about cross platform testing and web testing?"If". That's a handy word. I wonder what it means...

No one's mentioned it, so until the OP says otherwise, it's a totally irrelevant distraction.
