Paula Radcliffe !!!

She was kind of laughing about it afterwards - I mean what can you do? There's nowhere to hide and every fucker has a camera...

While we're on this unexpected tangent . . . the Sun, at the time, thought it was a wee. But then again, I thought she disappeared into a convenient dark tunnel type thing . . . maybe there's been a wee and a pooh . . . .

Come on Paula!

I mostly hope that she doesn't damage her leg for life. I ran a marathon on a stress fracture and couldn't run for 3 months. She's got one on her femur, and barely given it 6 weeks rest before picking up marathon training again. I fear for her, but I would love to see her win.

If she doesn't, you watch some pricks on here start having a go. Saw it happen four years ago.

I hope for her sake she does it but in my possible medals on sunday spreadsheet I haven't put her down for anything!

I don't dislike her, but I dislike the attitude she seems to have of dropping out of races if she thinks she won't win.

So obnoxious. Like she's above all that coming second nonsense. Fuck that.

I hope she does really well and gets a medal.

I also hope she doesn't permanently damage herself if she has a stress fracture.

She's a great athlete - how many people on this thread have run an marathon or run in the Olympics?

Not me!!

But I can still have an opinion.

I get what you're saying though. I wish her lots of luck!

How many times has she done that exactly?

I have run a marathon

:p

and it was probably Paula that inspired me to do so

I discovered in the Tour de France that, when the cyclists discard the used water bottles from the feeding station, it's not littering because the items are prized by collectors, like say baseballs hit out of the park, or tennis stars' tops.

I wonder if that was the case with Paula Radcliffe's gift?

Do we actually have a better chance of a medal thru one of the other Brits, Liz yelling or Mara Yamauchi?

I know you spoke lightly mate but Paula has really suffered today, and mostly in part because of what happened in Athens. She took a lot of flak for not finishing.

She's flogged herself, limping painfully home just to prove to folk that she's not a quitter.

I also hope she doesn't permanently damage herself if she has a stress fracture.

She is a great athlete, tough yet vulnerable and I echo what you saidy, I really hope she hasnt hurt herself too badly.

38 or thereabouts? They've just mentioned this on the replay. It's do-able for her, suppose it depends on family and injuries/health. Good luck to her

At which point did she pull out today cos I've been out and missed the race?

bollocks. she dropped out when she couldn't win medals and it hurt too much to continue.

We don't want athletes who are only interested in medals eh, just the ones who turn up to take part and aren't too fussed about winning.
