Paul Gascoigne Sectioned

just got this

"Gazza sectioned under mental health act and sent to institution for retards with no chance of recovery. "We're glad to have him back!" says Keegan"

hilarious

There's nothig wrong with mentally ill folk bar the obvious of being mentally ill, there is however lots wrong with playing for the hun and beating your wife.

Is this an example of the Sectarianism that you previously frowned upon?

That massively backfired on them and they changed it for the later editions. Don't think they'll be making that mistake again.

Of course they will. They are a bunch of utterly fucking useless, slimy, lets sell more papers no matter what, cunting cunts.

I'll pay Jimmy Five Bellies' bar bill for a year if there isn't a "Gazza Goes Ga-ga" headline in one of the tabloids today.

'Mad' Gazza on suicide watch

COKE-crazed ace Paul Gascoigne stunned hotel staff before being sent to a psychiatric unit by answering his door in the buff — with “MAD” scrawled on his forehead.

The fallen soccer hero’s only companions while he remained holed up in his room on a two-month drugs and booze binge were battery-operated PARROTS.

Ex-England ace Gazza, 40, would talk to one of them as if it were real, a source revealed.

He also wandered around the hotel with them under his arm, getting them to squawk “f*** off” to fellow guests.

according to every report I have seen today he has been sectioned.

He isn't in custody... maybe that's where the confusion lies....

All I know is that yesterday we reported that he'd been sectioned. The police rang up to say that wasn't true, but that he'd "been detained under the Mental Health Act". It appears that he's accepting medical help voluntarily - my understanding of "sectioning" is that it's forced upon you against your will.

"Sectioning" is in fact usually used as a reference to detention under Part II of the Mental Health Act, although it may be that some people use it more loosely than that.

And by the way, this thread is about neither Manchester United or Liverpool, but about a bloke who, regardless of his past misconduct, is extremely ill, so could Rehlani and Revol please take their infantile squabbling elsewhere? Cheers. :)

The most common civil sections of the Act under which patients are compulsorily admitted to a hospital are:

Section 2 - admission to hospital for up to 28 days for assessment

Section 3 - admission to hospital for up to six months for treatment

Section 4 - admission on an emergency basis for up to 72 hours.

I'm not doubting you, I think the police are a bit confused.

If he's in voluntarily then fine. But he isn't being "detained under the mental health act".

if he is being "detained under the mental health act" then he's been sectioned.

He may be agreeing to treatment voluntarily whilst still being under section....

You don't have to be forceably detained to be under a section - some people do agree to being sectioned, i've seen it happen before.

so maybe they mean that he agreed to enter hospital, without an assessment from 2 doctors, ASW etc?

Wonder what would happen now if he said he felt better?

Could they have conducted an assessment in hospital, after admission, and decided to put him under section?

I think so.

Poor old Gazza, he is one of my footballing idols. I met him and Jimmy Five Bellies at Gatwick last year and got a photo with the two of them. Gazza was a sorry sight, painfully thin and very jumpy.

Its a bit sad tho - he was pumped up by the red tops into a near mythical hero character and they have gleefully piled in and raked the shit properly when hes at his lowest ebb.

I like what Graham Taylor said

Graham Taylor said:
"For me Paul Gascoigne was the greatest player I managed at international level and as a person an absolutely superb fellow.

"He would give people the last penny in his pocket but I know round about him for many years there have been many people who have taken the last penny from his pocket."

"During your period as a footballer all you've got to do is turn up on time, the rest is all organised for you and that's not helpful," he added.

"The clubs do everything for you and then when your time comes to leave the game you don't really know anything about the real world.

"If you're really in the spotlight like Paul Gascoigne, and he also has personal problems, it's extremely difficult. This fellow still needs a tremendous amount of help."

poor ole gazza. :(

Which of the two of us would you have attacked first?

i would have assumed either he was lost or in a hurry, either way i would just have given way to him. i have had cunts speed up to block me from entering a lane when i was about to run into traffic cones with my two young children in the car, i always give way in those situations if it is safe to do so, try it sometimes, trust me, it really doesn't make you feel less of a man.

Can the nasty police stop this please. Gazza is a very fucked-up person but is generally recognised not to have a nasty bone in his body. Let's accept that we all say and do things we regret and not be nasty bastards over this.

But I doubt you would ever attempt to overtake someone in a queue ambling up to the traffic lights when they leave a slight delay before following the car in front. It was simply competitive driving and quite reckless. Yes, had I been more mature I'd just have let it go but hey.

ffs. Are you still fucking bleating about this? It's been nearly 20 fucking years?
