Party Frocks Ahoy!

know what you like. but i'm getting tired of black in all the shops all the time.

at least it isn't a prom dress - they can just about fuck off now, too...

anyway, i see aqua in this - or they do it in a dark teal blue, too. debenhams.

I know what you mean about black. I'd love to find a dress I like in a colour that isn't black. Will keep looking...

but I have rugby player shoulders :D

no - but i think that the soft diagonal of the gauze (particularly in the blue) would break that up - i might be wrong, though.:o:D

anyway - this is the blue, but for some reason they only have the back view.

it may not be the best frock ever, but if you were near a debenhams, you could try it. £75 - but it's silk, and a classic style.

ooh, yes... i always forget dotty p's

rather nice that. you just need a shrug.

Oh yeah I always forget about shrugs. I need to invest in a couple I think. Will mean greater choice of party gear if I don't have to worry about 'the arms' :)

I bought this in Matalan today.

Can't afford it but I'm singing in about three weeks time and didn't have anything to wear

I'm going to wear it with a waistcoat and these boots

I might wear a long sleeved top under it if I'm not brave enough to get my arms out :o

I got them from Simply Be for £48 and I can pay it in instalments

They're supposed to be £60 but I had one of those 20% off thingies

I bought a couple of ace vintage party frocks the other week, but I'm really liking that red M&S one.

I have to go to the works do this christmas. I've got out of such capers for the last 25 years. *subscribes to thread*

Ebay them

I SO want a proper 50's dress for party season!!

:hmm:
When I think of the 50's dresses I've loved and lost I could cry. I had loads of absolutely beautiful genuine 50's full skirted boned bodice ones and they just got lost over various house moves :(

They wouldn't fit round one of my thighs now but I could've sold them

gah! me too.. I might actually go to Debenhams to have a look. I'm off to the Kings Road today - is there a Monsoon there? I may have an hour to check it out if there is...

*googles furiously*

But every year I ask, where are these dressed-up parties? Other than the office Xmas party I don't go to any, so let's assume people who do celebrate Xmas also dress up a bit at home, but that's still only two parties. None of my mates have ever held a dressy party.
