"part time" study and full time work.

Apply for the job.

If you get an interview, and you get offered a job, then that's decision time I reckon, once you've found out more about the workload, how flexible the employer might be round exam time and so on.

If you don't you'll be wondering what if...

If you do and you don't get an interview, you'll know it wasn't meant to be, so you can banish all those what if and thoughts about how you sacrficed your career for kids thoughts...

You will burn out. No doubt. With kids too? No way.
.

This is why I havent managed to finish my degree... BIG mistake....
I have kids, I went PT and worked 30+ hours a week in year 3/;4 because I couldnt afford the debt
It only took for a bullying prick of a lecturer to start picking on me and I crumbled.
I cannot even face stepping through the doors to pick it up again...
dont do it

You say don't do it but this thread shows that some people have managed it! Every situation is different for different people.
I'm starting uni as a mature student on Monday (full time) and will be working 18 hours a week on top. Saturday and Sunday all day. I have a partner and a very young child so won't see them much most weeks but there are lots of holidays to look forward to.
Good luck with it. :)

Oh whatever... you go ahead and do it.

I'd say its an extremely bad idea, particularly if you are likely to be undertaking most of the child care yourself too but clearly you know best:rolleyes:
It also very much depends what degree you are doing and how much contact time and coursework you are expected to churn out.. what age your kids are etc.
I wasnt aware you were only allowed an opinion if it concurs with everyone else who has already answered the thread but I stand corrected

Well yes, OP only you know what you can and can't handle. I certainly wouldn't be able to, but then I'm not you, you're not me, etc and so on.

It's good to get a range of opinions from those folks on teh intermawebs, but yes, do what you think you can handle :)

The decision was taken out of my hands in the end . I decided the best option at the moment would be to work part time but unfortunatley the job I was interested in was full time and involved working with people with autism. The manager said part time is not appropriate as a greater level of continuity is needed to maintain stability for the client. Oh well something else will crop up im sure,Im interested to see if im still so keen to work when the next essay is due.

I missed this. Sorry it didn't work out.

The bolded bit is what I'd worry the most about if it were me. I'm terrible with deadlines and the stress around them.

Good luck with whatever happens :)
