Part 2: Hackney Brook pub crawl

There are quite a few interesting places around Stokey; the house where the Angry Brigade made their letter bombs, the house where Marc Bolan was born, the Indian restaurant where Jonathon Ross exposed himself to the waiters, etc...

plus daniel defoe lived there, and edgar allan poe

I didn't live in Stokey so it already becomes alot less interesting... :D

( William Booth is buried in the cemetry and Edward De Vere lived on Church Street.)

I'm not going unless boohoo comes up with some decent facts!

Last time was a crushing disappointment - I want to know which tree a 12th century goat botherer was garroted under, that sort of thing.

And ideally, no more than 100 meters between pubs.

Come on the next sewerage pipe walk, and you'll be overwhelmed by the facts. May make a day of it and incorporate a visit to the conveniently located London Museum of Gas.

How about a Fleet Street Pub crawl sometime??? though it might have to be a weekday.....
You're really not trying hard enough.....

Get a bit of string that represents 100 meters on whatever scale the map is, stick one end at the nearest pub to the starting point then move the other end around in a circle until the line intersects with another pub. If none is found, move the starting point. Keep on repeating the procedure until a suitable set of watering holes has been identified.

Really..... sometimes I feel like I have to do everything myself!!!

Don't tell me we've abandoned the Hackney Brook part 2 crawl for Fleet Street already?!!!

No no no... just a future idea.... and it does kinda involve another river....:D
And it would be more of a crawl though I do enjoy the wander around Hackney...

Exactly.

This is a walk which stops off at a few pubs. Not really one to be getting shite-faced on.

If that happens you'll have to pretend you've got to go & meet someone for dinner. Your sister or something maybe.

yes, exactly.... :D

( still not drinking, i take it?)

I had 3 bottles of beer last Thursday- not shandy!

Other than that I am still not really drinking.

You have insulted my honour, sir.

I demand satisfaction.

I challenge thee to a duel - pint glasses at dawn.

Obviously this will have to wait until the cessation of your knicker wearing phase of emasculated abstinence.

Till then, I shall carry on honing my ale duelling abilities whilst you continue to wile away the evenings deliberating over soft furnishings & tofu quiche.

well. that will be entertaining to watch... 4 pints, then a run through of A-ha's greatest hits...then making feeble excuses to leave...

:p

It's been decided, all the details are now confirmed.

Sadly we can't tell you on account of this being a pub crawl - an event where people are expected to drink beer/lager (wine is permissible if you're a girlie or a bit peculiar).

It's nothing personal, but you wouldn't want a man with no arms on your tug-of-war team, now would you?

You may attend future pub crawls once we have a signed declaration of intent to drink lots of booze.

I gave a date the other week but as I'm wading through cancelling my life at the mo, I'm not sure this is gonna happen for a while.

Like I say there is always the sewerage pipe walk for back up. (now to includes reading from Iain Sincair  )
