Parking in Valencia

Odd thing I heard last night. Apparently, in Valencia, it's not considered antisocial to double-park. Provided, that is, that on doing so, you leave the handbrake off, so that anybody who needs to get out can bump your car down the street a little to get it out of the way.

I said I heard it: I didn't say I believed it...

i've witnessed it

its mental, its not as organised as 'double parked' - more like abandon your car anywhere you please. much honking of horns and shunting of cars to get your vehicle out. also lots of clambering over seats if you can only get in one side of the car.

but it seems to work. they just get on with it.

It's completely true. When I was living there we spent many a morning pushing cars together in order to get my housemate's camper van out from the inner most row of cars.
