Parking in the bus lane.

Oh yeah, contested it alright, just waiting to see what they say. Seems a common rule of thumb though, seen others stung with this "we didn't see any activity in the three minutes we were watching" so they were hit with tickets.

Edit: They actually asked me to prove I was "loading" so sent them a receipt from the shop I was in. Seems a bit over the top mind, but I expected no less.

Should add thst CCTV monitoring of bus lanes herr has been a complete & utter failure & since they had to void every ticket issed because the system lacked the right wayleaves & other legal nicities to operate, the promised new equipment has failed to appear - result no policing for over two years now.

There is one van that is always parked in the cycle lane when I leave work. I do not understand why it doesn't get a ticket.

It says Big Banana on it so it's easy to recognise.

Playing devils advocate for a moment, those parking and loading boxes support a lot of small independant businesses. The out of town big stores have free parking, the city centre has good public transport access (in most cities) but lots of small shops have neither.

A lot of those motorists would be better off using public transport in most cases.

Are we talking about London or UK cities in general on this thread? Gawd knows I love London but the tube does make a big difference over say Nottingham or Leeds.

A lot of the independant shops on (for example) Nottingham's Mansfield Road are dependant on the bus lane concessions between 10 and 3.

London and Manchester mainly.

Doesn't Nottingham have a tram system?
