ooh where from?

Would like to see those others

Borders I think, but everywhere should have them.

These three are Del Toro's masterpieces. IMO Blade 2 and Hellboy aren't that good. But he churns those out to make the dosh. The three in this set have his own personal stamp. They are all equally special in different ways. Cronos is a great take on the vampire* genre, and The Devil's Backbone a fantastic ghost story.

*even if you are not a vampire film fanatic (why wouldn't you be?? ) it is a superior contribution.:)

I started watching it but film4 kept pixalating and I had to give up. Enjoyed what i did see and I have avoided reading threads on here and other media as I will eventually watch it.

Why did no one tell me this was in Spanish?

Not that bothers me. I just would have liked some warning.

I think i need to start a second thread so that I can talk spoilers, but don't know if i can be bothered. Damn good film though.

Great film I have to agree but not what I expected, the stuff about the resistance versus the spanish army I mean. I'd just heard it was a good fantasy film (which it is) but it's like there're two stories going on at once. I'm rubbish at getting films though

Loved the faun and the fairys

Mr K very thoughtfully bought me the del Toro box set for Christmas  which is handy as I almost bought it for him :D Looking forward to finally seeing The Devil's Backbone.

It's a beautiful, spooky, disturbing film. The thing that really got me was that I've never really been able to beleive that the Spainish were ever facists. It just doesn't seem to fit with their national character, but the villian in this movie really EMBODIES Spainish facism so convincingly, without ever playing it like a overly hammy panto baddie. What we get is proud, vain, sadistic, sexist, ego maniac who represents everything that was flawed about old fashioned militirism. If you haven't seen it do, it's a horror film for people who don't like horror films.
