Panoroma on welfare reform: a travesty of journalism?

How on earth do you know that? are you a Doctor, an Occupational Therapist or just a bigoted know it all who actually knows sweet Fanny Adams...

'Baldwin said

Truth is that a lot of people have a vested interest in keeping disabled people out of work. And yes the vast majority of people on IB could and should work....But the help they get to work is usually preety shite.'

Thanks for that treelover...
And how much does the average doctor know about work? How many of them have ever had a real job?

How anyone can presume to sit there and say 'there are too many people on IB' without being in charge of knowing the exact medical conditions of thousands of people is beyond me.

Why?
It is plainly obvious that there has been a huge increase in people on IB since about 1995. Why do you think that is?
The majority of people on IB could work and want to work. Its just they dont want to come off benefits and go into a poorly paid job.

Do you know how hard it is to claim IB.

Do you know how easy it is to pull someone off those benefits at the merest reasons?

You know everyone on IB then and their circumstances, or are you just spouting off out of your arse?

You do realise IB is contributions related, you don't get it if you haven't worked and paid into it. Apparently more women now claim it as more women have worked than in previous years.

Yeah i do know how hard/easy it is to claim IB.

Of course i dont know everyone on IB. But i do know a fair few people on it...And was on it myself for a short period.

Care Industry: Self Sustaining Self Perpetuating!!!

Nigel, are you trying (very trying) irony, if so it isn't working, in fact its bloody offensive....some of the disabled people i know who for instance, cannot always control their bowels will gladly come round and defecate on your carpet, an accident of course....

I'll have a laugh at you picking up litter in your bright orange jumpsuit, doley parasite, or are you a middle class parasite living off the back of the care industry gravy train????

For someone who considers himself a socialist, your opinions are more akin to fascism.

Poor Nigel. The urge to show everyone what a wanker he is just overpowers him sometimes.

I don't take Nigel seriously at all since the plum threatened to kill me. :D
Thats because you were insulting my family you sad doley pro-zionist twerp.
You should be campaigning for full employment and/or decent training or proper apprenticeships, on decent pay, sick pay holiday pay and benefits.
Or for schemes like, for instance Ploughshares used to run in Wellingborough, where mentally ill and mentally handicapped people worked in a whole food co-operative, not to leave people wallowing around on benefits.

Shhhhhhhhh....

The holes over there. Get the fuck back into it!

Get it right, you sad right-wing waster, you insulted me, I insulted you back, you insulted me again and then I insulted your family, and you came the hardman (well, as "hard" as you can be while coming across like a 12yr-old with tears in his eyes), threatening to track me down and kill me.
And what did I say in reply?
I told you to "bring it on", didn't I?

Oh, and "pro-Zionist"? You must be even soapier than I thought if you think I'm "pro-Zionist", but seeing as how you actually believe you're a socialist, I can see how you might be a bit confused.

You don't have a clue what I do, Nigel, but it's nice of you to provide me with laughs with your conjectures, utter shite that they are. Cheers. ;)

Nigel, just follow the parallel tracks of his wheelchair; he'll be a piece of piss for a horrd mon like yourself to track down. Give him a slap for me when you finally track him down.

Thanks for that treelover...

As the son of a doctor who saw his da worked into an early grave, I'm laughing hard at your post. But I also think you're a contemptible fecking eejit.

Oh dear you still haven't grasped it. At my sons special school they have teenagers who are at the physical and mental developmental level of small babies. They are unlikely to get a job in a whole food co-operative.

Panorama is shit.

The real 'solution' is in encouraging people to work by building up their self-esteem and confidence, and recognising that the vast majority of people on benefits are entitled to them and aren't able to work.

Just as long as I can give him a slap to take back to you, once he's out of hospital! ;) :p

For Nigel it's obviously all one and the same thing; if you're a claimant you're a scrounger cunt.

Which makes this thread by the self-styled "working class socialist" all the more hilarious. ;)

Even in this situation I work part time.
Did a course in Plastering, and in the process of raising funds to set up my own business.

Each According To There Abilities

I worked and stayed voluntarily in Ploughshares community and used to work as a Care Assistant & Auxillary Nurse several lifetimes ago, with mentally handicapped & in Geratology. Some of the (for a better word), patients were in such a position, but the group accomodated them and they were given tasks which they could do under supervision.

I recentely worked in maintenance in the Radcliffe Infimary(Oxford), the way patients in Geratology were treated there was terrible, with no stimulus whatsoever. Also watching the way various social worker types speak to people who are mentally handicapped, very patronising and condescending, almost in the process of infantalising these people is not
positive.

Some of the ideas around welfare in Colin Wards Books: Anarchy In Action, Social Policy which I have re-read after about a decade are very interesting and which I would sympathise with.

We're bound to meet up sooner or later. You over stepped the mark and you know it!!!!!
:rolleyes::mad:

Am I supposed to be scared?
Tell you what, when I stop laughing, I promise to make myself grimace in fear for a few seconds.

And as I said before, if you "track me down" like you promised to in your death threat, you're welcome to have a pop, just as long as you're happy to accept the consequences. :)

I hope you're declaring it. I'd hate to think that a scrounger-hating upright citizen like yourself was ripping off the taxpayer.
Did a course in Plastering, and in the process of raising funds to set up my own business.
In other words, you've gone through a training programme. Well done. I hope your business succeeds.

Yes I know how patronising some social workers are. I also know there are some people so mentally damaged they would not even be able to understand the instructions to a task.
You'd also have a hard time getting some of the more severe end of the autistic spectrum to comply.

Besides what you described is more like OT than paid work which is a bit different and certainly not what our gov is proposing.
