I think it was the combination of wrong pan, but mainly, stupid electric fucking hobs.

We had pancakes last night as we're busy tonight - savoury ones with chilli rice and cheese, baked in the oven. And sweet ones with cherries and chocolate ice cream.

However we had to have ready-made pancakes as we haven't got a hob at the mo and they were a poor substitute for homemade

Well, we are being shriven this morning - Catering have set-up a big pancake stall & from down here in the labs (where we can't take food), the smell is absolute torture!

They have set-off the fire alarm twice in the last hour too!

However despite being not a bad cook I cannot seem to make batter that works. Yorkshire Puds, pancakes, toad in the hole - all turn out rubbish! I am hoping that this year will be different but...
