So Mr LaRouge - you agree with Americans? Their pancakes are usually of the thicker variety aren't they?![]()
hehe

I want pancakes.

but will have to wait until this evening.

Shrove Tuesday. And most of you will be having crepes, not pancakes. Pancakes are these:

Don't think I'll be having them tonight, but I haven't eaten them in ages - so should eat them soon.
I've always found it odd that they're one of the easiest things to make, and yet people only seem to eat them on 'pancake day'.

Does anyone know where I can get proper pancakes like these, with bacon and maple syrup, in London?
We had pancakes last night as we're busy tonight - savoury ones with chilli rice and cheese, baked in the oven. And sweet ones with cherries and chocolate ice cream.
However we had to have ready-made pancakes as we haven't got a hob at the mo and they were a poor substitute for homemade![]()

Proper ones with buttermilk in them, too.
I shall be trying to make them, I have a Delia Smith 'foolproof' recipe.
However despite being not a bad cook I cannot seem to make batter that works. Yorkshire Puds, pancakes, toad in the hole - all turn out rubbish! I am hoping that this year will be different but...![]()

My flat?Proper ones with buttermilk in them, too.
That said, we'll be having crepes tonight as pancakes aren't really much good for savoury toppings.

Pan(s) hot enough?
