Palm Treo 800w/850w/Pro

I mean that if they're creating well thought-out Windows products, putting in a lot of care and attention with a bit of interesting innovation, then it bodes well for the new Palm OS phones which, presumably, they'll be putting even more time, effort and resources into.

Ah right, I get ya. Thought you knew something that wasn't quite public yet...:hmm::D

I seem to remember Apple currently exists because Steve Jobs got a tour around Xerox and saw a their gui demos.

Tech karma perhaps?

Er no, Apple made computers prior to visiting Xerox Parc, no GUI though.

Besides, it wasn't a case of some random tour - the visits to Xerox Parc were invited and planned. IIRC there was talk of Xerox investing in fledgling Apple stock, repeat meetings as a result and ongoing co-operation afterwards. It's worth noting that, Xerox innovations aside, the Apple Lisa was in dev already and added familiar GUI conventions like double-clicking, dragging, pull down menu, task bar and trash can

More hands on stuff, and look the Pro is all edgy with fire, rah!

So far so good on this phone. There looks to be a lot of nice design touches going down and the 1500mAh battery is a decent size too (compare with the piddly 950 mAH battery on the Nokia N96). I'm looking forward to having a play with this fella, although the presence of WM OS will probably ensure that I won't be buying it.

Something that I found a little odd in that vid was when he goes note how they've dropped the orange logo and it just says Palm. The Centro already had that...

You know I'm very tempted by the Pro. Having had a good experience with previous versions of Windows Mobile (03 and 05) that's no put off, you can get Agendus for WM too...very tempted...

Even at 400 quid it's still tempting, I reckon I could get 100 for my Centro which would cut the price down nicely. And with O2's sim only deal it's a very tempting deal...

Got one in my hands now. 'Tis is a lovely looking phone alright, but Windows Mobile is fucking, fucking, fucking SHITE.

What don't you like about it, Ed?

Controversially I'm reseting my WM6 device less these days than I ever did on PalmOS.

Mine was waiting on my desk for me this morning.

Like most of the reviews have suggested, it's not ground breaking in terms of what is available on the market today.

But it is a nice device nonetheless.

Quick review: it's a nice handset. Call quality is good, feels great in the hand and the screen is bright and crisp. The Wi-Fi is excellent and the keyboard is a good size. Pretty fast in general use and when switching apps (nowhere near as fast as Palm OS though).

Dislikes: touchscreen needs a bit of a hefty shove at times. WM6 is fucking shit. Browser is clunky.

Have you tried using it as a 3G modem? How easy/fast is set up and logging on (assuming you have)?
