Well it looks like the rumor about the new Palm Treo 800w coming to sprint in July, is actually pushing through. According to reliable sources, the new Treo will most likely be released on July 22.

And similar to what we’ve posted a few months back, the 800w will have features such as; EvDO Rev A, a 320 x 320 screen resolution, Wi-Fi and 256/128MB memory. In addition, new confirmed features of the Treo now include; threaded SMS, Windows Mobile 6.1, autonomous-GPS, large keyboard, and it will come in a charcoal black design.

But contrary to earlier rumors, the Palm Treo 800w will not have Qchat, a hardware Wi-Fi switch, MMS capability and its screen will not be flush.

The lack of MMS is a bit lame, I've been using that more and more that said it's early days and they might sort it. It's shaping up to be a fairly ok smartphone, and finally wifi! :cool:
 
Eh? It came up in my RSS reader and I thought yeah it's about time for it to have it's own thread given it's so close to launch.

Sprint Palm Treo 800w to sport Internet Explorer 7.11?

The details are rumbling in now:

Details on unreleased handsets sometimes pop up in some unlikely places. The Sprint Palm Treo 800w is slated to release in a couple months, but that apparently has stopped a user from testing their own Palm Treo 800w on DSL Reports' website.

The user-agent data shows that the bandwidth tester was using a Palm Treo 800w on Sprint's network. Display resolution was apparently set at 320×320. But, most interesting is the mention of Internet Explorer (IE) 7.11.

Apparently, this is it:



Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional, 320x320 recessed touchscreen, a ~400mhz CPU and 128mb of RAM with 256mb of ROM. Plus EVDO REV-A handset, GPS, wi-fi, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP and a 2.0megapixel camera.
It definitely has the look of a prototype though, so I imagine the finished version will look a bit more polished. It's not a looker right now though, that's for sure.
 
Hmmm it's looks like it sits between the Centro and the 500 in terms of looks (assuming that pic is real)....
 
They'll need to really polish up its looks in the final version if they're going to have any hope of competing with the Blackberry Bold. Specs are just fine though.

Yep, specs are very decent (would like a slightly better camera but 2mp isn't that bad for quick fun shots if the camera is good enough).
 
That different from the 800? Must say it is quite nice, it's like Palm thought 'hmmm I wonder what the blackberry mixed with the Centro would look like?'
