Palm OS: recommended software for Treos etc

I bought a pair on ed's recommendation - you won't be disappointed :)
(nifty packaging too)

have been running TealOS for 24hours now

very interesting

- it crashed on exit from a few programmes..but it seems to 'learn' from its mistakes and runs fine after a restart

it is flash and pretty and a good piece of work...am now trying to work if it makes my life any easier, or just a bit prettier, before deciding whether to pay

any thoughts...is it quicker to flick and launch an app, rather than using my standard buttons and favourites? I like the way the programmes stay in the state you left 'em, that could be useful.

anyway it is a taste of things to come

actually the Facebook for Centro app does not remain in the same state because I guess it has to sign on each time
It's the same for some programs like the web browser but it gives you a tantalising glimpse of how good the webOS is going to be. Imagine being able to have three emails and two web browser windows open and 'flicking' and ccopy and pasting between them. Awesome!

I bought the TealOS. It may be a load of eye candy but it's fun to play with and in the latest beta I love the way you can send apps flying off the screen with the up key.

oh poop...just bought adaptor for Centro to normal earphones from Maplins..did I get the wrong one??

2.5mm 4 Pole Plug to 3.5mm Stereo Socket

it doesn't (really) work...basically if you push it all the way in you get nothing but if you pull it out a bit you get mono..and a bit further out and you get stereo...oh and it is crackly so I thought cleaning the socket with isopropyl might help, but no (this is a brill trick normally..just soak the plug in iso and push it in and wriggle it a few times)

or is my Centro a bit broken?

I never bought it and have un-installed the trial, the reason being once the novelty wore off it had little practical value compared to the excellent Takephone.

Good fun while it lasted and made me even more impatient to get my hands on the Pre! :D

One thing: the latest beta is a vast improvement on the first version

sorry to whine but does anyone have any thoughts on this question below...I am going past Maplins later so I could get the right one..if I knew which one to get.

Have you got an old pair of 2.5mm headphones you can put in the Centro to see if they work?
I think the adapter I bought was just a three pin job (it's the one that comes with a short length of cable). I'll check later.

many thanks...hmmm no I bought the one that does not have a short length of cable

I've only got the old mono 2.5 mm headphone and that works fine so yes I guess my centro is ok!

The TealOS keeps on improving. I love it!

Slightly annoyingly, I only discovered this absolutely fantastic task/to-do program recently and it's already become an absolute essential: Bonsai.

It comes with a desktop app and is really powerful, simple to use and probably one of the best of its kind on any platform.

Just to add: that Bonsai program is absolutely brilliant. It take a while to get your head around it, but it's already replaced NoteStudio and is perfect for organising Offline events.

pah..bonsai doesn't synch with macs

not that I need a new program..Life Balance is just fiiine for me
Ah, that is a shame. I found Life Balance a little too complicated for my needs, but Bonsai is damn near perfect. There's even a USB stick version.

Palm is giving the superb TealOS the order of the boot on Monday, so you've got until then to download and buy the app.

There's been an enthusiastic campaign to add new features with new betas coming out almost daily, and it's replaced my old launcher.

So get in there quick if you want this ace skin/launcher app.
