Paintings - A Painting Thread.

I love portraits, they can be very expressive and include tons of imagination. But if you want it to actually look at all like the person then you either need them to sit still in front of you for ages or you need a lot of photos.

Bollocks! (quite frankly) :)

I love doing painted portraits of people based on the 10 minutes I spent with them. It's the best way to do 'portraits'.

Sterile cunt

Ooooh. I'm wrecked - Totally. No way am I going to be able to paint tomorrow.

Tomorrow is a day off. I will be horribly hungover.

What time is it?

I really like this one  :)

More quick paintings.

Firstly a detail from Emily Plays with Fire:

Secondly, a bright, bright, bright ultra vivid Albycin scene to grab a tourists eye:

Sort of like the right hand side of this one, but gave up a bit with the left. Just about got away with it.

She's obviously much better (re; Living in a Cave thread/Suburban)

Lots of fire juggling photos this evening, but I've been chucking up violently since about 7PM. Nothing staying down :( Dunno what I've eaten to cause that.

Anyway, thought you might like to see what inspired me to paint Emily Plays with Fire.

Detail.

It's actually a very small painting. And, it's not quite finished I think.

Fire juggling photos to come later or, another day. I iz teh poorleez :(

Sylvian breathing fire big time for the camera. Worries me sick every time I watch these guys now. This shot will be turned into a small oil painting this evening. I'll post the result tomorrow.

Forgot to take a pic of Sylvian eating fire painting. I'll photograph it before I give it away. Currently doing Three ultra vivid type paintings a day. They sell like hot cakes :)

I'm told the very lovely Ali is back in Granada (or, at least heading back). I'm determined to get her painting. Totalism is growing :D Four very good painters actually doing it now. Might be time to organise a local exhibition soon.

Emily Plays with Fire (complete version).

Very sexy :)

This changed a little after seeing her heavily sedated after suffering a fire eating accident. Painting is part of the painting a day series of what I imagined the last person I spoke to was doing when I got home. She's having a beautiful opiate induced dream about glorious flames :)

She's also back to 100% fitness and juggling fire once more. No more fire eating though.

Those painting are beautiful, I especially like the last one.

How much do they sell for, if you don't mind me asking?

If I had a bit of money I would buy the one directly above this post. Its Beautiful.

But alas, I am just a student!

Thank you.

Emily Plays with Fire is Emily's for free. I give most of my work away to the people who gave the inspiration.

All other paintings sell from €40 - €400 ATM. I'm about to up my league mind.

I agree with you btw, that painting is VERY sexy

Do you think archive quality limited edition, signed prints would sell on the web? I could probably make a good profit selling them at £20 for 1/100 editions. Not sure they would sell on the streets here, but the Albycin scenes would probably sell well in shops and galleries as prints if presented properly.

Hmmm...

You've given me a good money making idea :)

Do you just sell them on your website?

Yes and no. Not many sales at all from my website.

I sell on the street, or, just to people I meet. I picked up Two commissions last week. Generally sales come by word of mouth. Someone sees one of my paintings in someone else's house etc. I currently have about 20 paintings in local shops, but they tend to sell even more slowly than via my website. Like everything else, it's simply a case of numbers - more people you meet, more opportunities you make.

Granada is an excellent place for meeting people from all backgrounds.

Not really sure where this one started going wrong

Still, it should sell. The Third one I did today is fucking gorgeous. Needs a few finishing touches tomorrow morning. Spending the whole day tomorrow just painting :)

What is wrong with it? I love the colours and the feel of it.

Thanks. Don't know if it's wrong or, just didn't go in the direction I intended

Managed to complete Four paintings today plus One unfinished due to rain. Pretty happy with all of them. Charging batteries now to photograph them.

Getting brighter.

This is sort of where I'm coming from:

Very loosely! People are calling them sun at night paintings. Going to do Three more today hoping that they dry in time to sell by the weekend.

any more for us to see?

:)

Tar :)

I'd post more, but my web server seems to be down ATM.

Just came home for some lunch and put this mornings painting out to dry. Found it a bit difficult today. I'm all painted out. My try another this evening, but I'm not in a free flowing Four a day mood today at all.

Yay! Server's back up. This mornings effort. I actually only spent Two hours on it, but it just didn't flow like yesterdays.

Although, looking at it now, it's actually not bad at all :)

They're not paintings!

:D

Walked miles to the out of town mega mercado to buy some more canvasses, but they had run out. Walked all the way to La Chana to visit the cheap student art shop, but it's gone or, moved or, summat. Ended up doing about 20KM walking for the sake of a single £2.50 tube of cadmium yellow oil paint.

No new canvasses means no more painting(s) a day until I sell more. It's currently very overcast. Huge storm yesterday. Paintings are going to take weeks to dry in these conditions :( I have once sold an oil painting that wasn't quite dry. As far as I know it survived. They're very mucky things when they're wet.

Shit photos. Nice paintings. I'll record them better tomorrow.

Today at Mirador de San Nicolas:

And, another Rio Darro view:

Tried to go selling today. Sold just one sketch before rain stopped play :(

With Two big photo jobs now completed (that took away all my working capital) I need to sell paintings until pay day.

Interesting and slightly crazy week. It was nice to just have a Sunday on which to paint and drink.

I don't think there's anything wrong with it. But I think you are still nostalgic for the style you have discovered in Emily Plays with Fire.

The comments are a bit late but I've just found your thread, kudos!
