Blimey, perhaps we should try and enlist some of Brian's burgeoning celebrity support.

First it was Ben Elton, doing the media rounds for his new book. Fairplay to the old fartie - he's paid ample compliments to Paddick (apparently an inspiration for the lead character) and his stance in every interview I've seen. He stood his ground well with that frumpy Fern woman on This Morning, emphasising the homophobic hounding that Brian suffered and the difficulty of constructively commenting on the drugs issue with such a hysterical press about.

any way we can sneak some 'Support Brian Paddick' items onto HIGNFY? Wouldn't Self look fetching with a pink balloon....

OK, this vote on Wednesday - the Council motion calling for Paddick's return. It is proposed by Labour so most/all Labour will support it (so they tell me).

Most/all tories won't. So, please, please email your local LibDem councillors? They are the ones who can swing it.

On the plus side a short story about Lambeth's councillors calling for the return of Paddick did surface on the local news section of BBC Breakfast this morning.

And that ruddy faced git Gaunt even managed to keep his mouth shut on the subject for once. Bargain

The whole Paddick issue aside I think the people will know whom they'll have to thank when the Commissioner abolishes the post of Commander.
But hey, we and the media all got it wrong; the improvement in the relations between the police and the people in Lambeth isn't tue to Brian Paddick but because of the Libdem/Tory administration.
BTW, according to the Met Crime Statistics, there has been an 9 % increase in muggings from May (when the new administration came into power) to October in the borough.
