Paddick News

Yes, I did catch him smoking. Yes, I did everything I reasonably could to stop him. I have never admitted breaking the law and it has not been proved that I did. No, the regulations do not require an officer to report genuine meetings with close friends and relatives who are on bail. I did not have to report the matter.

Thanks for the brilliant support everyone.

Peter, flirting with Kirsty, how could you suggest such a thing! :o

The small & perfectly formed Ms Wark.......

I met her about a year or so ago in my mates kitchen and she gave me the best Bloody Mary recipe I have ever known.....for what it's worth, I like her (probably for that recipe alone!) and think she's a highly intelligent person, but I wasn't thrilled with that particular interview. I don't think she should give interviewees an easy ride, but I thought she was badly briefed. Which, if her info came via the MPA or the Met, doesn't surprise me.........
Cynical, me?

Peter! ROFLMAO! :D :D

Brian, thanks for being so honest with us.

I've been round the block a few (hundred) times and I'm not a fool, and I truly believe you have real integrity, and for that I support you unconditionally, for what it's worth. I hope to see you back where you truly belong.

What IntoStella said.

Mrs M, name-dropper! :)

(She doesn't know any astronauts, but she knows all other 6 billion humans, I've discovered).

What? You mean she hasn't contacted intelligent life on other planets and advised them on how to get stains out of their undies yet?? I'm disappointed, I really am! ;) ;) :D :D

[QUOTEOriginally posted by Peter MatisseWas Brian actually flirting with Kirsty Wark!
[/B][/QUOTE]

Peter: I take it as the cappuccino di tutti cappuccini for the Lambeth Cosy Nostra, you will be organising appropriate disciplinary action?

Can you still get horses heads down Old Compton Street?

let this be a lesson to homophobic fuckwits everywhere in any organisation. Justice has been done here. I know there were other issues too but I still think Brian was the victim of a homophobic witch-hunt and it was vile and spiteful. What difference does it make? Sorry if anyone feels I shouldn't be writing this but this is how I feel and it's made me mad as you all know I feel so strongly about gay rights etc. Everyone is equal in my eyes, be it about race or sexual orientation, or disability.
Rant over!

mods, you can remove this if you like, it's ok.

IMO justice is far from being done. It won't be done until Commander Paddick is back in his position in Lambeth and the Met have apologised along with some resignations for allowing The Daily Mail to dictate policy.

he'll be back, how can they refuse now? It's up to you lot to fight for him, like I said. I am sure that you will suceed. If you'd asked me this a few months back I'd have said no chance as I was convinced that the MPA would stitich him up too. Now there's no reason for Brian to go back and carry on.

ST - there's nothing wrong with your passion against homophobia, it's just that sometimes you appear to have not quite understood what's going on. As Mr Retro said justice has not been done for the reason he stated.

I also think the Commissioner may very well (and is sadly more likely than not to do this) continue to refuse to return Brian to Lambeth. How can he refuse? Well, by doing nothing, and "nothing" is an easy thing to do isn't it?

Oh please, we've gone from Katherine Hepburn and Cary Grant to 'Carry On' - what next spaghetti westerns.

Pooka - we don't do horse heads, we do poodle heads - minced!

:)

As for disciplinary action, the Latte sub committe met today and we feel that as the alleged offence took place well after the watershed, (it could have been worse it could have been Jeremy Paxman), will will recomend that on future ocasions Brian consults at least 25 senior ranking members of the Lambeth Cosy Nostra, (which by the way is supposed to be a secret organisation, with some people it's just blabber, blabber, blabber) on the appropriate behavior of such an illustrious member of the gay community. Besides which he's not been at all well you know, no don't laugh, no don't, no, it's been all down one side, poor soul.

Anyhow I must away to find my Flit Gun as I have just discovered I have fairies at the bottom of my garden.

Ciao! Bella!:D

Don't forget that Sir John was asked by a BBC television news reporter about this quote when Brian was 'offered' his new job. Sir John did not make any denial, he merely looked shifty and uncomfortable and said ' That is the past, I want to talk about the future.'

White man speak with forked tongue !!

...and in email exchanges with The Commissioners office they have not denied it either where 'The Famous Quote' has been mentioned, just that I should wait and see what the Consultants say about the future of the Commander post....which seems to have been pre-decided before they came in anyway.

How can you tell when Sir John Stevens is lying?
His lips move..............

We need to step up a campaigning gear. i reckon we should picket scotland yard with lie detector gear. "Now Sir John, about your promises over brixton police..."

Sorry Jezza,

Try to think of it as merely a reinforcement of your original commendable sentiments posted by a drunk doggie at 4:20 in the morning.

*slinks away, tail between legs*

:(

Woof

Just got in with the SLP in my sticky mit, and as ever pipped to the post from Austria! Clearly, you're destined for a career in cyber surveillance, Caspar :)

The respective stregnths on Lambeth Council are:

Labour 28
Lib Dems 28
Conservatives 7

So, even if all the Tories vote against, it would take just 4 Lib Dems to vote for the motion to get it carried. It would be hard for the current plan to go ahead and for the Met/MPA to sustain any pretence of listening to local opinion. Sir John Stevens has made much of the "sea change" in the relationship with the council to justify downgrading the post.

I suggest anyone who has a Lib Dem councillor, especially one who took their seat from Labour at the last election and may not feel wholly secure, get on to them now. You can find their email address on the Lambeth website, under "Open Government"," Cllr's, MP's and MEP's", on the left hand side of the screen.

Meanwhile, from Lambeth's lugubrious scrivener, writing in the
Standard:

"Anyone who saw Brian Paddick's performance on Newsnight this week cannot have failed to be impressed.

For those of us who have always been supporters, it was no surprise that he came across as the clean-cut, sensible, intelligent officer we've always maintained he was. Let's hope his superiors recognise it and let him have his old job back in Lambeth.

For those of us resident in the borough, the idea that our commander wanted to - as he told Kirsty Wark - "do this job more than anything else" was both reassuring and amazing.

Paddick wanting to clean up crime in Lambeth is on a par with Hercules being desperate to clean out the Augean stables - something that most of would us heartily wish to avoid. On that basis alone the man deserves to be regarded as a bit of a demigod."
