Owning as Little as Possible

Can't make my mind up about records.... got one corner of the front room stacked fullmaybe I should get rid of half of them or something, make some cash at the same time... I know its better to have just mp3s for space and faff etc but it seems like a nightmare chuckin all ya faves!

After moving back to parents after 3 years away at uni I have realised that I really need to geeyor hoarding. I almost filled a transit van with my crap :( admittedly, a lot of that was studio stuff, but still. Want to cut down a bit. I like having a big box of personal crap like photographs and letters (don't understand how from what some of you say, you don't have these things), and reckon I could manage with that, me computer, telly, dvd player (have to have these for my work), camcorder, clothes, toiletries, ghds, hairdryer, shoes, er... bags... er... books... OK OK i am incapable of living minimalist

I am loathe to getting rid of my books but to declutter an awful lot has to go. I also have way too much shoes and clothes but I love them all; granted I don't need every single piece I own but I want them, even if i do not have the space for them. CD's are also an issue but I am too scared to brun everything to my mp3, even thought it has enough space for like a zillion disc, what if I lose it or something wipes the memory?!

I wish I didn't have so much stuff and would love to have someone come round and blitz my house but I know that someone will have to be me and I will do it. One day.

Nah, I'm a terrible hoarder. When I moved over here, it was mainly my mum and dad who cleared out my flat because I couldn't bring myself to throw any of my junk away. I had stuff like old typewriters and giant stuffed penguin toys with missing limbs crammed into wardrobes.

Funny enough, I bought my first place last May and have got rid of loads of junk.

Someone very close to me is doing a massive declutter right now and it is really inspiring me. He's very into non-consumerism and I want to be like that too.

Clothes are going.
I am burning music to hard drive now so loads of CDs can go.
Just lots of crap that I dont use.
Books I have issue with though, I like to go back and read bits of them.

Who are you shagging on urban now??? ;):):D

When i left London I just dumped what I owned on the streets, so other people could use it. It was quite cool to see the Polish guy walking off with my ikea chest of drawers balanced on his bicycle.
I kept my books and records and a laptop and some clothes. Everything else was given away. mainly kitchen odds and sods, computers and stuff.

Now I have bought my own place I've had to furnish it, and now own some nice pieces of furniture and a couple of pieces of art.
I've tried to get stuff that will hold it's price and it's appeal to me.
I'm all too aware however, that nothing is certain and I know which items i'd try and keep hold of and which ones can be sold. Should push come to shove.

Back after university, I was going to go travelling for awhile. I was moving out of my rental place with all my stuff. I started packing, cleaning up, etc. Then I just said fuck it, packed a bag and a backpack, and walked out on the rest of the stuff: furniture, books, stereo equipment, etc.

It felt pretty good, actually.
