What is your point Johnny?

My point is that much is made of the hard work that movie stars must endure. I'm pointing out that they do moderate amounts of work, in sporadic bursts, for stellar amounts of money, and that that aspect of their lives at least is much easier than that of the average person.

Have you heard of the saying 'Money does not buy happiness' Johnny?

I sure have. I also believe that this man was driven to attempt suicide by his own demons, not because he was an overworked superstar.

apparently, according to Courtney Love (London Lite earlier) it was Steve Coogans fault.

How was it Partidge's fault?

Courtney Love really is some sort of terrible cunt

Apparently he corrupted him with his evil drug fuelled lifestyle while they were making Night at the Museum.

The Lite added that at no point did Coogan supply him with drugs.

I thought Owen Wilson was quite the hedonist anyway - i heard that he was notorious for getting involved in group sex at the Playboy mansion

For the kind of money he makes, most people would be prepared to do some hard work and give 200%.

I wouldn't assume to know what's going on with this guy as I don't know him, but there seems something odd that the Lindsey Lohan's, Owen Wilson's and so many others self-destruct so spectacularly despite making tons of money.

Yes, but so many others don't. It's like society in general.

i just cant believe he got out-partied by alan partridge

Partridge is notorious - when Courtney love tells you you wanna slow down on the drugs you know you've got problems

Did anybody else see how BBC3's '60 second News' reported this ?

Paraphrasing but went something like

Something bads happened to Owen Wilson, but we don't want to dwell on it, hope you get better soon Owen

Either report the news or don't !!!!

Just made me go onto Google.

Shmu and I will try watching anything with Owen Wilson, Ben Stiller or Adam Sandler in it. Occasionally this policy means we switch over after 15 minutes but usually we get a droll evening's viewing out of it.

I think that's nice, bless them. I love the 60sec celeb news, the bloke who presents it cracks me up.

My heart bleeds for the beautiful, blonde, perpetually pouting, millionaire, successful superstar...

..is a tempting way to look at it. What?

And the way things have gone for some friends and myself lately it's a natural reaction.

If one can't be happy being Wilson there's no hope for any of us etc.

But of course, mental disease can affect us all rich poor, beautiful or ugly.

Good luck to the fellow.

That's the very reason why so many people who made it derail. I worked in the film industry in the US for three years and it was bone grinding work. They pay you well, but they also expect you to give 200% all the time. Many people get into drugs because that's the only way you can stay awake and still have a bit of fun after work. People there put incredible pressure on themselves to succeed and they just burn out.
I've never understood that crazy preoccupation with being rich and famous. I'd rather have a nice and easy life with less stress.

FRom the Popbitch email, today:

>> A life depressive <<
Owen Wilson takes a time-out

We reported back in November 2004, to the
consternation of his scary Hollywood lawyers,
that Owen Wilson might not be entirely
unfamiliar with hard drugs. It's somewhat
surprising that everyone seems to have fallen
hook, line and sinker for Courtney Love's guff
that it's all Steve Coogan's fault. Coogan may
be an unpleasant drug pig but this smacks only
of Love finally getting her revenge after the
humiliation of being dumped by Alan Partridge.
A rich, ageing celebrity bachelor with an
entourage of yes men to get him whatever he
wants and a stint in rehab for depression
already behind him - it's likely that Wilson
didn't need much encouragement.

true tho ennit. I'm sorry to hear about the poor lambs mental probs, but I struggle to care about successful people in mental distress. They will do misery and madness in comfort. The others of us don't dare take such worries to the psychiatric authorities, simply because we kno what a nightmare state-sponsored mental health care actually is.

But poor diddums to the rich fella with the feelings of worthlessness
