overused songs

Bentley's Gonna Sort You Out! by BRA. Adverts, fashion shows, posh late-night TV shows, shop music... Most people fail to name the song, but everyone knows it. Most of Röyksopp's Melody A.M. fit into this category, too.

I agree about Angel - great track, but overused.

A lot of Craig Armstrong's tracks are really overused too, coincidentally a lot of that album reused stuff he'd also done with Massive

about 2 years ago many BBC documentaries were using Joy Division tracks.
I recall a doc about a mental hospital using about four tracks, most notibly
the glass smashing intro bit on "I Remember Nothing"

Drive, by The Cars, has been overused since it came out in the 80s.
And it wasn't that good to start with.
I like that song, but only ever heard it around Live Aid - the only time I've come across it since is on Power Ballad comps.

Portisheads Dummy still gets regualrly whelled out whenever TV types wnat to evoke a mysterious/spooky atmosphere.

Iggys - Lust for Life - been pretty much killed by over use by advets, trailers etc.

I love it, but "Get a Move On" by Mr Scruff I hear being dangled around since it's memorable (and awesome), plus it was used on that advert.

Angel/Clubbed To Death/Clint Mansel's Requiem-y stuff I couldn't agree with more!

Cars by Gary Numan? :D

Time To Pretend by MGMT is gona be one to watch in the future I reckon :hmm:

edit: "Clocks" by Cuntplay?
