I have a cute little VW Beetle. Some people I know have those big SUV things... but what about it?frank the man said:But had a breakdown .Not very successful in my eyes. Sorry to be harsh but there you are.
Your opinions seems rather naive.boohoo said:Why? Turnover of over a million and for that particular industry is very good. Business still going strong. The fact that the company didn't go tits up when she had her breakdown, shows her good business sense to have hired a strong team that could cope if the boss was there or not.
life effects people in all sorts of way - having a breakdown can happen to anyone....Your opinions seems rather naive.

I am trained in an occupation that could in reality pay me 140k per year, I decided to use my skills as a coded welder, doing contract work that gives me 5 mnths off a year, reason being I couldn't be bothered having to deal with the people within my scope, career, career was all they seemed to be concerned about.
I am the most succesfull person I know, yet I took a pay cut to do that.
frank the man said:Well we have very different views of success then. To me the monetary rewards is the success. I mean the job satisfies but so is the lure of that fat wad.

They are not supposed to be a motivation for him, they are supposed to be a motivation for you and me and all the other workers who are struggling to get to the top of the heap.
In fact, the more egregious his salary the more hard work it should squeeze out of everyone else who wants it.
Lazear and his fellow economists call this "tournament theory".
