My husband had to virtually carry me out of the George on many occasions, so I have very fond memories.
Innit. Just cos it's "arty" they think it's OK for the place to be a shit-hole. And an over-priced one, to boot. It was the first place in London I paid more than £3 for a pint. Plus it's full of Barleys.
I've revisited my opinion about The George, btw, and can only conclude that the posters on here who like it are precisely the kind of twats that it's always full of, that I mentioned in my OP.![]()
Really? The Foundry has always been cheaper than the surrounding bars/pubs (not as cheap as 'the sadly gone in a strange electrical fire' bar 170). I think it is still under 3 quid a pint now... unless of course you are getting the organic beers brewed from up pitfield street.
Could've been organic. It was the only bitter that they had on, anyway.
if you order the most expensive drink somewhere you can't then complain if it's expensive.

Any pub where some famous person or persons is supposed to drink. Eg the Coach and Horses in Soho or the Golden Hart in Shoreditch, and wherever it is that Amy Winehouse is meant to go. All such pubs turn out to be shit, it's an iron law.
I'm glad you had a good time in there but I found it overpriced and had cliquey atmosphere. Also the barman/landlord acted stuck-up, like he was doing me and my friends a big favour serving us. This was 4-5 years ago, maybe it's improved since then.

)it's not run by that landlord now, he was legendary for his rudeness it was part of the place.
you might be disappointed next time you go in, all the ne'er do wells have moved on.Well its about that long since I was there too. The barman is notorious for being rude ( Ever seen Jeffrey Barnard is unwell?), and the pub is full of Soho ne'er do wells, so it may be cliquey, but hardly stuck up. Ever time I've got pissed in there I've ended up chatting to mad people and having a great time ( and getting horribly shitfaced)

Last time I was in with my dad he was passed a very detailed price list by a transexual prostitute - it made his day!
Maybe I shouldn't go back again.Ever time I've got pissed in there I've ended up chatting to mad people and having a great time ( and getting horribly shitfaced)

Did you ever go to the Troy Club? That was like that.

The Troy Bar, opposite 333?
It's still open - some friends used to put parties on there. I liked the place.
