Why are people voting gas? Gas ovens are crap.

Maybe they never used a good electric, fan assisted oven ;)

quick google reveals that http://ezinearticles.com/?Gas-and-Electricity-in-Ovens---Which-is-Better?&id=2469161

Most ovens these days are electric, and what sets them apart from gas ovens is that they are cheaper to buy, tend to be more reliable, and can be more versatile. Modern electric ovens come with a host of additional functions including thermal grilling, defrosting, batch baking, and timers that can be programmed. Gas ovens tend to be more traditional but ultimately give cooks more control with their oven temperature.

The cooker at my place has a gas hob & leccy oven. The oven is busted, it's never worked. The gas hob works perfectly, instant raging heat from fire. Fire is good, men cook with fire. Had the oven been a gas one, it would no doubt still work.

I have to admit, that's a first for me. I've seen people argue the values of gas hobs before, but gas ovens?? Never before now.

No No No, gas ovens are rubbish, they have cold spots all around them and results in your food cooking at different speeds.

Anyone who prefers a gas oven clearly has no love of cooking and no respect for themself.

Gas hob. Not that fussed about the oven tbh. Aside from our gas obven, which has an annoying tendency to turn itself off without warning

I like gas ovens because you can have slightly different temperatures in different parts of the oven and that can be useful. They may not be even but as long as you're used to the oven it's predictable. Modern electric ovens are pretty good but my current flat has a shitty cheap electric oven without a fan which is pretty much the most useless thing on earth.

Yeah, just to clarify old electric ovens are shit, but new ones are the best a cook can get.
