freezer need defrosting?

When my freezer needs defrosting the opposite happens: nothing inside the fridge is near cold enough

I've turned the gauge thing down as far as it'll go now and it doesn't seem to make any difference.

It's only happening on the lower shelfs (those closest to the freezer below).

Anything else I can try or is it call-a-repairman time?

The thermostat's probably fucked. I put a new one into a fridge once, but it was an old fridge. I think I was a student at the time, not a lot of money.

I wouldn't do it in a two year old fridge. Probably more complicated, and you want it to look nice afterwards.
