I'm so very sorry to hear about Harvey, he was a lovely cat

If he was one to roam then it was likely that he would be involved in a RTA sooner or later and there was nothing you could do to stop it other than keeping him locked in which would have made him unhappy.

I know it sounds trite, but I hope that you can at least console yourself that you gave him a very happy life for the time that he lived.
