OTT housework

Inspired by my mum's hippified approach to cleaning, I've never done anything particularly hardcore - clean and tidy enough to function, yes, but beyond that seems unnecessary (this explains why I rarely iron anything).

My stepmum has unwittingly reinforced this in me, by combining a period of intense OCD cleaning during my teens with a habitually surly, shitty attitude that made me think "Wow, OTT housework really sucks".

I'm rubbish - the only thing I regularly clean is the kitchen - the bathroom gets cleaned when it looks disgusting and considering that I usually don't have my contacts in when I'm in there, I rarely notice

I've never done any hardcore house cleaning tbh - I was using a dustpan and brush instead of a hoover until 2 days ago :D

Nothing wrong with this. I used a broom and a dustpan for many years. In fact, this can get your house just as clean (but it is bloody hard work, so don't do it too often).

You sound like a girl after my own heart wrt housework :)

Generally do a top to bottom house clean every couple of weeks. Clean kitchen work surfaces etc regularly. That's about it.

I have to iron 3 things tonight.

*breaks into sweat thinking about it*

I'm not big on ironing.
