Oscars 2009

Nope. Mickey Rourke was good, but not as good as Sean Penn who absolutely blew me away.
I am very tempted to put a tenner on Frank Langella - I dont think he was better than either of those twop, but there are enough Academy members who hate both of them for their vote to be split allowing someone else to come through the middle. Langella's the best of the other three, and is available at 13-1, bargain.

I haven't seen The Wrestler yet, but I saw Mickey Rourke in Kill Shot the other night. I knew Diane Lane was in it, but hadn't read the blurb and didn't know Mickey Rourke was in and didn't even recognise him to begin with. Haven't seen him in anything in years, and he looked so different, but he was good in that too. Shame he's messed his face up beyond recognition, he used to be quite attractive.

Who would have realised that the irritating little git that he was would turn into a damn fine actor?
Robert Downey Jr's another surprising turn up for the books having turned his life around over the past few years, although I didn't think he would've got a nomination for Tropic Thunder, because of 'the dude playing the dude playing the dude' thing.

I've seen a trailer for The Soloist and I'm really looking forward to that coming out.
