Organic boxes v Farmers Markets v Supermarket Fruit and Veg

My fruit and vegetables..

I keep meaning to look into organic veg boxes properly, but never get around to it.

We have Green Lanes veg shops which are excellent, so that's probably why.

I really try to avoid ever buying veg from supermarkets but I'll grab the odd thing.

We have loads of fresh home grown salad veg in the garden ATM anyway. :D

Despite being a meat eater I get my fruit and veg from the veggie co-op in town, partly because it's a co-op and partly cos they are damn nice people :)

I'm afraid I get everything else from Sainsburys though :D

im supe lazy and i get everything delivered. SO for veg and fruit i use abel and cole, never had a box nicked but a friend neraby has had loads of her vegboxes stolen. th eonly proble i have with abel and cole is that this week i received loads of citrus fruit and a melon, i dont like citrus fruit
the sustituitions are usually quite good and if you email them with a complaint then they will refund
otherwise the deli near brixton tue is great for ust about everything.theres a fruits and veg stall right opposite sainsurys in holborn and his stuff is great quality. my local greengrocer is so friendly and nice that i used to go there all the time, its a small business and i felt i was doing something worthy in supporting the local businesses but the stuff there is really quite rubbish. i do buy supermarket veg in my online shops, so its a real mix if things

We buy ours at a combination of the local supermarket or a local indoor market.

Why?

Because we don't eat enough currently to justify getting an organic box and it would go to waste. And because neither of us drive so couldn't get to any farmers markets (not that I even know of any around here).

I very much doubt the veg from my local indoor market is organic, or even British, let alone local - it certainly doesn't state as much anywhere. I should ask them. So, if I want organic I get it from Sainsburys. Not ideal, but at present the only solution I can see.

From the stall at the tube. Or the supermarket. Or I grow it. Depending on what it is but I try and buy local and organic.

This thread is a lot funnier than I would have thought it would be :D
