I am currently making a note of all the downtime, so I can cancel the remaining 9-months of the contract and switch – although they have given me 4 months free, so I am not in too much of a rush.

That post I quote above was made on the
25th JULY – note that date.
Today I receive a letter saying they have tried to take the August payment (which, of course, they shouldn’t be taking because they gave me 4 months free), but have been unable to do so.
The letter goes on to suggest my bank account details ‘aren’t quite right’ – just the same fucking details they have been using for about a year! And yes there are funds in the account, so clearly it’s a problem their end.
Finally, get this, they are charging me £5 for late payment! WTF x 10,000!
So, I phone the muppets and they say I must have cancelled the direct debt, but I haven’t.
So, I ask why they are trying to take payment when they had offered 4 months free and they claim they only offered 1 month free, but still couldn’t explain why they were trying to take the August payment

– they took the 10th July payment, so even if it was one month free, it would be free for August.
They also claim the conversation I had with them was on the
27th JULY, so how comes I posted my pervious post on here TWO days before the conversation with them? Also, why does my phone bill show the conversation was on the
27th JUNE?
They still dispute the facts (date of conversation & what was promised) and are going to track down the recording of the conversation and call me back tomorrow.
