Oppose The Police Federation March - Weds 23 Jan, central London

Fit Watch call for 23rd. Join us early and then go on to Class War demo.
meet 9:30 - Tyburn Pub - Edgware Road (nearest tube Marble Arch).
On January 23rd, the police will be marching through London demanding higher pay.
Present will be violent trouble makers and threats to publicorder, including veterans from J18, Mayday and G8.
Fit Watch are determined that this small minority will not wreck havoc through Central London.
We will therefore be providing an overt surveillance presence with the aim of deterring anti social behaviour.
The cops have been violently crushing our struggles for years. They are violent thugs who don’t deserve any money, let alone more money.
Let’s show they’re not welcome on our streets.

Shouldn't you be at school on that day?

That, plus the abuse the Police Federation got from members for taking such ostentatious new offices in Croydon, all mean there is real pressure on them to deliver over this one..........
They're in Leatherhead. Leatherhead is not Croydon.

If this is police officers as opposed to the paperpushers striking I don't have a great deal of sympathy.

Police officers IIRC start on something like 26k. Not only this, they work an awesome shifts system that actually allows some of them to commute in from France for the part of the week they put the hours in. Plus they can claim overtime which can't be said for many other professions.

Just what U75 needs ... another ACAB cunt with a shoe size in excess of their IQ.

Actually you will find that police are virtually universally stupid. THough it is changing a bit these days with more university types joining (the fools).

The problem with anarchism is two months of it as a governmentsl / social system with no police and the strong preying on the weak wold have people screaming for a return to order.
a fucking return to order?

what planet are you living on? do you really think 30 teenagers last year stabbed to death - in london alone - is a sign of 'order'? the tens of thousands of assaults, burglaries, rapes, thefts not reported to the police - plus the ones people do - i suppose that shows THIS society's in order. perhaps if you engaged brain before posting you wouldn't make such an arse of yourself.

perhaps you think this is an orderly society, but you've a bloody perverse idea of order.

it's interesting that there appears to be no public support for the police on this one. some of the older posters here may recall the demonstrations in support of the miners in the early 1990s, when they pulled out more than 25,000 for a weekday demo and about 400,000 for a rather rainy weekend one. the police federation are anticipating a turnout of 10-15,000, all of whom are expected to be filth. no posters here taking the day off and turning out to support the scum?

Police Federation

From The Police Federation

"Our march has received a lot of media attention. It is therefore possible that small groups with any grievance against the police may seek to stage counter demonstration. The Metropolitan Police are monitoring this and if need be, will deal with any impromptu protests". :(

Thats a shame its not every day that Class War and the Anarchists support the Government and its pay restraint polices.

Have there been any polls to back that up?
do you know anyone who's going on the cop demo, who's not a cop?

if, as everyone expects, 10-15k filth turn out, and - strangely - the attendance is put at 10-15k, it will indicate no other fucker saw fit to turn out for them. as i say, remember the number of people who turned out for the dockers and the miners - and even the huntscum. the number of people the filth are expecting seems to be, er, just them. there'll be no apparent support from their civvy staff, no apparent support from the communities they patrol, not even any apparent support from their colleagues north of the border.

Given the demo is on a workday for most people and I live 320 miles away from London, no. (But then I don't know anyone who goes on any demos or who is likely to.)

So there'll be 10 to 15000 fewer coppers on the beat on that day then?

Splendid.

*Heads off to Dixon's armed with balaclava, battering ram and large sack*

Nope, it is only police officers on their day off taking part, as police officers are not allowed to strike.
(The CCTV cameras will still be operational.)

Bah!

And they had a 42 inch surround sound TV I had my eye on as well.

Why would anyone support the police demo? When was the last time the police federation gave any support to workers fighting for better pay? Well unless you call smashing up pickets and attacking workers support.

Hopefully next year they'll get an even worse pay rise.

Indeed.

I think we can safely assume that the only people on this march will be police officers - i.e. that no members of the public turn out to support them at all.

When can you ever say that about any dispute?

hope you die of cancer pig slime

i've no intention of supporting the police but that comment is just cuntish on any level.

And whilst i'm not going to line up with the pigs to campaign for higher wages when the shits are happy battering other workers striking for theres I'll certainly not be turning up to protest like a sad tosser, especially since this issue is tied into a wider pay freeze on public sector pay.

I've no intention of turning up and going "Rah! Rah! Police!" but I support all worker's peaceful protests and strike actions.

When Marx exclaimed "Workers of the world unite; you have nothing to lose but your chains." he made no exceptions to it. If there was ever an opportunity to just briefly realise that, then this is one such brief opportunity.

If other unions and other workers were to support this action then it would make all workers' relationships with the police that little bit better. And that's a small step towards a better and more mutually respecting society.

And how are other unions and workers meant to have solidarity with the group of people who break up their pickets lines and undermine their strikes?
