Onket's employment latest news

Well, well, well!

At about 5pm today my employment was terminated pending agreement of a 'Compromise Agreement'. Hmmmmmm. Legal advice will be sought next week!!

I'm still feeling alright though cos I'm going to get money out of it it seems.

Oh well Onket, take the money honey and run away to somewhere sunny, have a small holiday then come back and decide what you really want to do, or go back to being an admin monkey like me:D

i wish i had known about the club months back i would defo of put my job search on hold :) to be fair to my new lot they are actually really nice and when i am sick they let me "work from home" this entails logging on dealing with emails for an hour then going back to the sofa to sleep for the rest of the day:D

I know i was shocked when he just said, dont come in for the rest of the week and work from home, the one day i did 3 hours work i got an email telling me to stop working and go back to bed!:D

Unfortunately no, not unless you wanna be an investment manager babes (or work in Swindon!), i have a really wicked manager to be fair, i dont think other employees of the company get treated quite as well. :)

Oh yes.. Normally its statutory plus x months salary per year of service. I think tax free Cash in lieu of notice can also be offered, provided it wasn't guaranteed in your employment contract.

you can also be given paid legal advice from a pre-selected panel of employment solicitors, it leaves the company in a stronger position if someone kicks up later that they didn't know what they were signing.

Tax situation is tax free up to approx £35K last time I checked, but the solicitor and the agreement should lay all that out for you. They should also fully explain the agreement, what you're agreeing to and any tax implications, least ways mine did :D

The presence of a compromise agreement is a sign they're trying to do it by the book. Take all the help that they offer you, but keep your eyes open too. It's amazing how cold some companies can be, once they've decided you're history :(

Good luck, I've been through it and it's a stressful time. Admittedly, if the place was a nightmare you might be well out of it, and with a nice payout too ;)

£30K is the limit for tax and NICs - free. The compromise agreement isn't valid unless onket has advice from a 'relevant independent advisor' (which is normally a lawyer, CAB advisor or TU official). Therefore the company will insist on that and probably make a contribution to costs (although they're not obliged to). The going rate for a reasonable contribution is £250 + VAT although that can vary depending on how complicated the circumstances and agreement are.

Oh dear that's not what I would expect from a meeting that was 'all good'.
O hope the compromise agreement turns out to be agreeable for you.

Sign on straight away as well!!! They do all the forms over the phone!

I'm moving on the 25th. Not sure if I should do it here or there.

And another thing- There was no unemployment club last year when I was out of work for 4 months!!! Grr!

phone them and find out. No point losing out on any money!

We need unemployment club badges reading 'available for work' or 'I luv the JSA'

Yep - you need to find your contract definitely :)

My area in St Ockwell is now called Robsart Village - very posh for a high rise, grubby park and run down estate!
