Then there was this letter I sent to the Guardian in 2004:

appear to consist entirely of brutal actions and retaliations. Players are "maimed" and "smacked", they get "a busted nose" and have "blood pouring out of them". This is all reported without comment. Would you be so indulgent if these were the memories of a football player, or are different standards extended to the gentlemen who play rugby union?

boxing...i love that sport more than any other.

Same as! boxing is number 1 for me, always was always will be. I watch boxing pretty much every day of the week, & download excessive ammounts of it.

I love football, and hurling too, but nothing compares to the brutal science.
