Seeing the slow cook beef recipe thread reminded me of your pot. Curses!

I have Bouef de Carbonade in the over right now. It is basically beef slowly cooked in dark ale.

I am going to slice up some French bread, spread mustard on it, and toast it on top of the stew before I serve it.

The pot, or the recipe?

I could probably stretch a meal for four out of the casserole pot.

But the one I am making now is just for me and my Dad.

Is the house part of TK Maxx. Is great in the same way as TK Maxx (ie, unreliable, not stable stock but fun to search through). There is one in the retail park bit behind Lakeside (where Ikea and stuff is). Don't know if that is helpful for you.

By the way, the shepherd's pie thread made me wonder whether this pot that Dill and I have would be suitable for shepherd's pie. Would it?

Good question.

My answer - without having made a shepherds pie in it - would be yes, I think so.

You would make all the filling in the pot all at once. Then top it off with the mash, and put it it in the oven without the lid on.

Bah, I was about to suggest a beef in guinness recipe. It's even better slowcooked.

I approve of your serving style

Big pot of Scouse :)

Recipe at home though.
Had to explain to the boy what scouse was yesterday :D

That venison stew soj posted up the other day was lush.

Got a recipe at home for a shallot and sausage hotpot if you fancy that?

I cooked that one in Newcy Brown Ale.

How do you know that? Shouldn't you be somewhere, doing something?

:hmm:

Off again. :( After triumphant trip to the Outside last night, I threw up my chips. Bleurgh. Now, annoyingly, feel worse than yesterday. Could be that, in my triumph at feeling better, I ate A Lot of chips and fish. Not so good. Am spending the day buying lots of books from Amazon (one click purchasing is DANGEROUS!!) and waiting for Gilmore Girls.
