One club players

Closest I can think of was John Trollope, who made 884 league and cup appearances for Swindon between 1960 and 1980, a British record

His son didn't play as many games in his career but was associated with by far the superior club ;)

"Your Dad's a legend, but you're a..."

Can you guess the next word?

Can't knock John Terry.

Well you can, but not for loyalty to his club.

I don't think the loan to Nottingham Forest counts for much, as it was insisted upon by Chelsea to build up his match experience.

hes still too young to count as one club player.

Oh and i haven't seen paul scholes name mentioned yet. One club, legend.

Well, that depends. Many made a debut for Utd or other big clubs, but it takes real class on the field to be a permanent fixture in the team for over a decade and never be considered expendable, and off the field to never whine and moan for more money and piss off to Spain because Barcelona or Real might add another number to the paycheck. And Giggsy is a role model on both.
That's a good point, you have to be good enough. But the point I was making is that there is a much greater temptation to move if you start at a smaller club.

True about Scholes but if he'd had his way earlier in life he would have happily spent his whole career at Oldham

Jamie Carragher - can't have that many years left and I could never see him going anywhere else.. Tempted to say the same about Stevie G. but if Lpool don't win anything in a couple of years I can see him going to some other big club like Barcelona, Real, Inter or such...

Phil Dwyer.

I just popped into this thread to see if anyone fell into this very trap!

Don't you think I might have been tempted to nominate my good mate Phil "Joe" Dwyer?

Unfortunately,I'm not sure he qualifies, on account of not being a one club man, having played for Rochdale!

I can't see Stevie G moving. He's already won the Champions league and FA cup with Liverpool, and turned down better money at Chelsea.

Ach, you caught me again. He was a one-club player in spirit though.

John Greig MBE 755 appearances for Rangers. Captain of club and country.

Fair enough. I've met two separate people with John Greig tattoos. I don't suppose any other British footballer inspires such personal devotion.

It would be interesting to see how many one club players with 200+ appearances there are currently in the top 2 leagues. Im guessing at Giggsy, John Terry, Steven Gerrard and what about Ian Ashby he as been a Hull player throughout every league (I dont think he played for anyone else even if he has its still a hell of a record)

Just looked up Ashbee. nearly 200 appearances for Cambridge, over 200 for Hull. Not bad.

Well thats him out of the water then, he still has a great record with Hull though I cant remember any other player playing in each league for their club

Tommy Mooney possibly with Watford about 8-9 years ago, they came through each division.

What about some of the players on the old wimbledon side of the 80s
