Once ubiquitous vehicles you never see anymore

that car is so rude, it hurts

I love it. 'Specially the 3500 version!

They were heavy old lumps though - our 2300 (straight 6) made stately rather than speedy progress. It was fine on the motorway but not much fun on the b roads.

I've been told the Vitesse v8 really shifted though.

My Gran had a series of Renault 4s after she got rid of her Ford Anglia.

I learned to drive in one of those. The floor had fallen out and the umbrella change gear stick kept flying into the rear seats if you tried to change from 1st to 2nd to quickly.

There are a few around here in Granada. Very expensive for a good one. People appreciate a car you can repair yourself here. I nearly voted for an R4 van (on the other thread - cutest). Cuter than the car IMO.

If I find a good one in Spain, I will buy it.

2CV's - the beloved student car that was bloody everywhere at one time with its tacky canvas roof, seats like deckchairs and an inability to do more that 40mph on a flat road - don't talk about it climbing hills :D .

Ah, memories :)
Read this thread this morning and thought "That's right. I haven't seen a 2CV for ages" and then this afternoon did the weeks shopping at the supermarket and when I came out parked in front of my car was an '87 (?) E reg red 2CV with a pristine matching red canvas roof. Stickers on the back said owner was a member of the deux chevaux club - it looked very smart.

Left the supermarket and as I came round the roundabout to join the main road there was a 'RAF' blue '69 Morris Minor 1000 with some old boy driving who looked about 80. He wasn't hangin about either - easily keepimg up with the traffic.

an Allegro drove past me today. In shit, skid mark brown too.

QUALITY.

My Dad had two of them. There was version with a big chrome front grill intended it to give it a kind of Rolls Royce feel. It didn't.
