Dunno about anything new tbh. The old stuff still gets an occasional spin, but its not where the heat is right now imo.

Ooooh a breakcore thread.

I'm really digging ATM: fff, sponge bob squarewave, stazma the junglechrist,

I'm glad this thread has risen from the dead!

Although reading the bit about Rave or Die makes me sad :(

Glad to see breakcore isnt dead.... it really is an international scene which makes it quite special I think.

still like it on occasion, but it all got very old, very quickly

i can't get that worked up about it tbh. seems to me breakcore was always about ripping off large chunks of other people's music.

(not that that's necessarily a bad thing)

well it will start a debate I'm sure. I had an argument with someone into breakcore who claimed that someone else had taken a chunk of his music and used it in his own composition, and he was angry about it.
I told him all electronic music did that. And I was for it, generally.

But he didn't seem to agree..

Electronic music, especially in small scenes like breakcore is born to recycle sounds.......

Yeah I agree with you Sim.

However in hindsight, I've kind of come round to what he was saying.

Lifting great big chunks of other people's music isn't on. Sure - take a snippet, and maybe use it creatively.

But simply ripping a chunk of someone's music and plonking it right in the middle of your tune and passing it off as you own, is a bit out of order in my opinion.

You would be surprised at how many big tunes out there have done that (not just talking about breakcore).

Oh yeah, sections of music, no, samples yes..... thats always been my view.

But then you should hear my attempt at making tunes, it sounds like they've been made by a year 8 music class

haha mine are rubbish too mate, don't worry about it! i just don't have the patience for that kind of thing..

I seem to have fallen out of love with it :(
used to be such fun as well

the bangface - the album comp from the end of last year looks great but I'm just not really feeling it
https://soundcloud.com/bangface/bon...in=bangface/sets/bangface-neo-rave-armageddon
found recent Bong -Ra efforts a bit lacklustre
Ladyscraper is the only new (ish) guy I've listened to. - it's ok, hardly re-inventing the wheel though
free download on bandcamp
on PEACE OFF as it happens

I'm sure the new(ish) Ruby My Dear is probably a bit more adventurous and interesting. but I haven't bothered with that either.

I have massively fallen out of love with breakcore too. Find it boring and derivative.

I'm into house at the moment! (never thought I would ever say that....)

I do love ruby my dear, he's probably my favourite producer at the moment, but he's hard to mix, I can't work out why, but I think some of his tunes might have a 3/3 signature (I'm musically challenged so am probably talking shite)

I'm really keen on the bangface album, but it's the 140 ish stuff on there that does it for me, especially the sanxion remix of Armageddon

I do like satan (from Russia I think), but his tunes are just pure disgustingness

A lot of the names in this thread are in my too many amenz on the dancefloor mix, so I may as well take the opportunity to do a bit of shameless self promo
