On this thread we are not going to Glastonbury

Do you re-call those 2 girls that just happened to be staying at the site with us? One French & the other one from Yorkshire I think? Anyway the latter was that v same DJ & I've got an email address to keep in touch seeing they both live in London. YAY! :D

Sorry about the derailment. As you were...

yep - this thread is not for people who had a lovely time elsewhere :o ;) :D

The thought of waking up at 5a.m. because the sun is too bright and the tent like a sauna, with a banging headache and having to have beer for breakfast before having to have my morning dump sideways coz some wag has tipped the shitter over appeals less and less each year. :(

I know what you mean - especially now I have Urbanites I could have gone with ... it's only just dawned on me that people go on the Wednesday before making it a proper holiday :(

I'm now planning to go in 2007 - 20 years after the last time I went.

But there are loads of other festivals ... I'm having a think about "The Big Chill" ... and Ashton Court looks promising.

To be honest, at 45, most of the guitar bands don't "speak" to me.

I would have loved to have seen Orbital in a field ...

Why isn't there one next year???

It's such a huge event now - the size of a small city - I guess it takes that long to build on what has been learnt from the current event and plan the next one ....

They didn't have one in 2001 either. They take a rest year every so often for planning and so forth.
Wasn't that because of the foot & mouth crisis?

Festival organiser Michael Eavis said he has "never felt so good about the show".

He always says that.

And then afterwards he always says 'that was the best festival so far' or something similar. He even said it in 1994 after that fella got shot!

Anyway, I'm not bitter. Honest.

Not sure if I'd ever go again, tried to in 2002 but there was no way in. Ended up going to Smeatharpe airfield instead which was quality, but Glastonbury that year kind of spoiled my memories & I'm not sure if I do want to go again at all. From what I saw that year,I'd say it had changed a lot.

I am!

I'm listening to Radio 1 now....:o

And a girl who I met at a rave in London about six months ago has texted me out of the blue to say she's in Glasto and having a great time...

*weeps uncontrollably*

Leper, people are LEAVING already. Calf deep water across the board, acts delayed due to lightening striking the stage repeatedly.

Feel good at the minute, Will is probably backstroking around the site as we speak :D

they were rubbish... no stage presence whatsoever and wasted 10 minutes of their alloted time (and ours) off the stage before being 'persuaded' back for encore.. cocks.

i might one day get around to making a second visit to glastonbury, following my triumphant visit in 1986 :D

thats when i last went

o what a shame its been delayed because of rain :D

I've only been to Glastonbury once - 1994. I remember Bjork in a pink dress, Orbital being fucking great and moshing to Senser. I saw a bunch of little bands that I never heard of again - Loop Guru anyone? I'd like to go again, but I bet it's changed shitloads since then ...

news, 5live talking to people at the site.

it's cleared now.

dance tent has a hole in the roof after a lightning strike but should be fine.

some of the early acts that could not be retimed have cancelled.

sounds like hell to me, but im still jealous :D

I went once, in 92. Weather was very good, best thing about it really, better than most of the bands I got to hear - highlight was Billy Bragg!
I remember I was not too happy on the Sunday because that day was the final of Euro 92 when rank outsiders Denmark (who only got to play in the comp because Yugoslavia had to step down) beat Germany in the final, and I missed it - couldn't find a screen showing it anywhere!

I went in 98 when it was a real mudfest but still had the time of my life. So much so that I'm kind of not tempted to go back, as I know it couldn't be as good! Even if the weather is crap it's a great place to be.
